The Newton Knight you are looking for is the one and the same as Captain Newton Knight. He was raised in Jones County, MS, along the area of the Leaf River and U.S. Highway 84. He married Serena Turner and moved to Jasper County, MS. Jasper County is just north Jones County. Soso, Ms is in Jones County, but not very far from Jasper County. It is located on State Highway 28 between U.S. Highway 84 and the city of Taylorsville. There have been several books written about Newt Knight. My ggg-grandmother was a cousin to him. Her brother Ben Knight was hung by the confederate soldiers because they thought he was Newt. Hope this helps.
