My husband is a descendant of Rachel Felder's second husband, Alexander Stringer. In researching Rachel and her three children with Alexander (Harriet, J.J. and Mary "Mollie" Stringer), I ran across info about the tiny and curious Henry cemetery Gulfport, MS, in findagrave.com.

http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=cr&GScid=2...;

The names are all intertwined so I can't quite figure them out:
Frances Henry(- 1853):6 year old son of Rachel & S.S. Henry
George Hartzog Henry (- 1853): 7 year old son of Rachel & S.S. Henry
Harriet Henry (- 1859): 8 month old daughter of Mary & S.S. Henry
Samuel S. Henry (1805-1863)
Donald McBean (unknown-unknown)

Could this Rachel be the daughter of Rachel Felder? and is her spouse Samuel S. Henry?)

Interestingly, Rachel Felder's daughter with Alexander Stringer, Harriet, married Donald McBean in Mississippi.
I don't believe that Colon Saulters middle name is Simon as many people have. I doubt that James and Sarah would havegiven two sons the same middle name. I have the death certificates for all three, Peter E,. Colon S. and James Simon Saulters. DC's confirm that all three are brothers. Peter's descendants go by Salters, Colon and James go by Saulters. All sons of Colon Saulters that registered for the WW I draft used the spelling Salters. However, it may have been filled out by the draft board if they couldn't read or write

You are correct. Colin is the son of James "Jim" and Sarah White. Sarah was the d/o of Abijah White. Colin is names after his grandfather, Simon Salter. Peter is named after Jim's brother. The Salter named became Saulters after he moved to Jeff Davis County. The Salter name is no longer in use either. Salter became Salters sometime after the turn of the . My mother in law was a Salters from Covington County where most of the descendants of Peter lived. Death certificates for both Peter and Colin can be found in the MS Dept. of Archibves and History. They have them on file from 1912 to 1943. James did not return from the War. He was conscripted into Confederate Service into the 10th MS Inf. CSA. Sarah then married a Roberts.
OH MY GOSH! You may or may not ever see this but I am a Boleware. My father is Michael Thomas Boleware, son of Alson William Boleware. Alson is the son of Lula Belle Boleware (daughter of John Alexander Boleware and Amanda Boleware) but the name of Alson's father is unknown. We are trying to get information on his father but we are completely stuck. As far as we knew Alson was an only child but with this new evidence I have no idea. I now reside in Jackson, MS but all of them were from Jefferson Davis County and surrounding areas. I know it's been nearly 10 years since you posted that message, but do you have any information that may could help? If so, email me @ mdbolewa@gmail.com. Thanks again!!! - Michael Dillon Boleware

Ronald, It's great to hear from a Goodwin descendant. You're the first Goodwin descendant I've heard from. My great-grandmother was Dr. Frank Goodwin's sister. I have photos of her, my great-grandfather, and their children (which of course includes my grandfather), but I've never seen photos from the rest of her family. Do you have photos of Dr. Frank? My email address is dfletcher20@comcast.net

I think one of my grandfather's sisters ended up living in McAllen, TX - Addebel McNeill Mosser. Dr. Frank was Addebel's uncle.

Here are links to my genealogy pages for McNeill and Goodwin:

http://home.comcast.net/~dfletcher20/john.html

http://home.comcast.net/~dfletcher20/goodwin2.html

Hello Everyone, I am a great-grandson of Mrs. Douglas A.
in response to your posting.i know it has been some time since this was posted, but i am rtying to gain some information on behalf of my Grandmother. her great grandfather was Jesse Whitehead. She has said that there is an American Indian connection in the bloodline somewhere that has been hidden very well and would like to know where this all plays into our family history. Also, could you possibly tell me if you have any information about this that dates back farther than Jesse?

I am somewhat familiar with Mt. Carmel - Francis Gillespie Goodwin's 2nd wife was from there. Her name was Ann Mylissa Gray.
I never knew why Dr. Goodwin moved away from Raymond in Hinds Co. He and his wife are buried in Raymond.
I'm not entirely sure what a beef shoot is, but here is the death notice:
July 19, 1866
Hinds County Gazette
"A truly unfortunate accident occurred near Dry Grove, in this county, on Saturday last. At a shooting match, at which was present many of the gentlemen of the neighborhood, a gun prematurely discharged, the ball striking Mr. Frank G. Goodwin, for several years past a well-known citizen of the county, and inflicting a mortal wound. He died on Monday morning."

Are there headstones missing at Mt. Zion?
As it turns out, I am not blood related to Dr. Goodwin. I had once guessed incorrectly that he married Virginia Hall, daughter of my Great Grandfather Dr. Alexander H. Hall. Surely Dr. Hall and Dr. Goodwin must have known each other. Two of Dr. Goodwin's children and Dr. Hall are buried in the same cemetery.
I am trying to identify individuals who are buried at Mt. Zion Methodist Church Cemetery in Mt. Carmel, MS. Are you familiar with the church and the Mt. Carmel area?
I was wondering about the 'beef shoot' you referred to when Francis Gillespie Goodwin was killed, Is that something like a turkey shoot?

All of your information is correct, as far as I know. Dr. Goodwin's parents were Francis Gillespie Goodwin and Ann Gray Goodwin. He had 2 full siblings and several half siblings. His full siblings were Annie Leora (my great grandmother) and Will Gray. One of his half siblings was Ebeneezer "Ebbie" Goodwin. Ebbie's mother was Elizabeth Easterling Goodwin. She died soon after migrating with her family to Mississippi. Francis Gillespie Goodwin died in 1866 after being shot in a beef shoot (I have his death notice). Ann Gray remarried to a man named Joel Thigpen. They had several children but I don't know their names and I know virtually nothing about the Thigpens.

How are you connected to Dr. Frank Goodwin? I have more information about him and about Annie Leora, Will Gray, and Ebbie. I also have some photos.
