I didn't find Earvin's death info but you have June 1938. I'd look for his obituary. There doesn't appear to be a generalogical or historical society in this county. I'd look for the newspaper at http://mdah.state.ms.us/arrec/faq.php#birth. Hopefully it will contain info about his family members.

His parents names will be on his death certificate if the Informant knew thei rnames. The Jefferson Davis Department of health has death certificates after 1912.

The earliest Census you'll find an African American slave on was the 1870 Census. Prior to then, they weren't listed on Censuses. Successful Searching!
