I sure am disappointed to hear that. I thought they had to have a death certificate. I knew a birth certificate was out of the question since my dad didn't even have one. I did go to Fayette and look for old copies of the Fayette Chronicle. The oldest I found was after 1900. There were some older books there on a really high shelf but they looked like they would fall apart if handled.

Does any one know of any other ways to find someone from that era? She does not show up on any census in Mississippi before she married my great grandad, Calvin C. Beard, but she had to come from somewhere. My aunt told me she thought her family might be from around Allen and might be related to some Baileys from around there but I can't find her.

Thanks for your help!
