I am looking for any information on the parents of Walter Napoleon King (b.1877 Pascagoula MS, d.1947 Columbus GA). Walters marriage record in Mississippi shows that the marriage to Julia Paulina Koenenn was witnessed by the parents of the couple, Antoine and Marie Koenenn and William and Maria King. Certain family members have stated they they believe that Walter King was mixed race. So it is possible that one of his parents were African or Native American.I have hit a road block on the paper trail. So any help regarding William and Maria would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Jon Holland
Atlanta Georgia

Actually Mama him Virgil and no, they didn't have any children. Yes, there were 14 of us. I remember Mama referring to Your Great Grandfather as "Uncle Rob". So He was her Mom's brother. Yes, I have pics of both Robert & Celie (as Mom called her). I am moving and everything is packed but I would love to exchange these with You. My FB is shown as Debra Hester Dees if you want to friend request me. I also have a picture of Celilia (Grandmother) Mother, but her name isn't on it. And of Celilia in a bathing suit with the Isle of Caprice on the front. Which is the resort from 1920 or so at Dog Island where the brothers gambled supposedly?? Mama didn't like any of this talked about. She would have had a fit. But it is history.

This is quite interesting and yes one of the brothers was actually my Great grandfather, Robert Ellis Mathieu,Sr. My grandfather was Eugene. There was actually 6 brothers, one died at only a few months old, his name was Theophine, born May 1876 and died nov. 14, 1876. I also have that there were two other children that possibly died at birth but I have no names for them. Ernie's last name was Smith and was not tied into the Mathieu or Harris family directly but did always try to help folks with their research when he could. I did have Daisy marrying Virgie Thompson but I don't have them with any children. Do you have any children for them in your research? I see you're from quite a large family, if I am correct, you have 13 siblings. I can only imagine what a family reunion would be like. I've always wanted to ask someone decendent of Celilia if someone might have any photos of any of the older Mathieus or Harris' that could be shared, that always has interest me. I have a picture of Robert'Sr. and his wife Mamie someone had sent me if you would like it I could send those to you. I do have a facebook account but don't use it much. Nice to communicate with you, I'm sure you could help me with some missing pieces of our families puzzle.

OK. I had also found your name on William Jacob Harris obit file. He was my Mom's older brother. We called him Uncle Baa. So I'm told that my Grandmother's name is actually Celilia. She had 5 or so brothers. I have all the names. Is one of them your grandfather. And if Ernie was a Thompson, as in Virgie Thompson. Virgie was actually married to my Mom's oldest sister, Daisy. Thank you for responding. This totally interests me. Always has. Are You on facebook. I am. Debra

Hello, just wanted to let you know that Ernie passed away a few years back, He was a cousin of mine as well. I am the person that started this thread on this message board a few years back. I am part of the Mathieu family that Robert Clyde married into through Ceclia Mathieu. If you would need any help in your family research please just me know. I have researched the Mathieus back a few generations and may have some info on the Harris family as well. Just let me know, Roger.

Hi, Saw this old post and thought I would chance a response. My family is related to A.C. Enochs (ggrandfather) who was the brother of I.C. Enochs. They were both the sons of John Fletcher Enochs and Rebecca J. (Black). A. C. stood for Andrew Capers; he was born in 1859 in Crystal Springs, Copiah County. Both of the parents were born in Miss. as well. I have quite a bit more info about their family lumber, railway and other ventures, if you would like to correspond. My grandmother had a brief history as well as I book of Mississippi notables with info on the family (in my possession now. I am presently trying to track down any descendants of I.C. and A.C. Enochs. Thanks!

I am trying to verify if Pauline Deakle married Silas H (Hildred or Hilary) Gibson/Gipson. He would have been several years younger than Pauline. Jackson County, Mississippi online death information states he died 2-11-1917, but headstone reads he died 3-11-1916.
This is old and you may already have this information, but I'm posting it anyway. (Also emailing you.)

They're in Orange Grove Cemetery in East Pascagoula. Both are listed on Find a Grave with photos of their headstones - see the following links:

http://tinyurl.com/SarahFStrength

http://tinyurl.com/JohnStrength

I'm looking for information on Henry B Taylor, who married Lou Ann Parker on 1 Jan 1896 in Jackson County. Henry was born about 1866. The 1910 Census says he was born in Ohio; the 1920 Census says Alabama. I do not know the name of his parents or siblings.

Does anyone have any more information on Henry, or how he connects to other Taylors in Jackson?
