Its early name as shown on the 1918 Sanborn Fire Insurance maps was ASYLUM ROAD. It dead-ended on the east at North State Street. The Insane Asylum was located North of that intersection. The University of Mississippi Medical Center is located on the grounds of the old asylum. Don't know when the street became Woodrow Wilson. The old asylum closed at that location in March 1935 and opened in Rankin County that same month.
