I just recently found out that my grandmother, Minnie Bell Moore Ainsworth, died in Leakesville. I was told she was living in a house on the Chickasawhay just before you get into Leakesville. She died in 1951. Was there a newspaper in Leakesville in 1951?

Yes, there was the Greene County Herald. It has been around since about 1898. There were some old copies in the courthouse basement a couple of years ago. Some issues of it are also on microfilm. Try the website for the Mississippi Archives and check their microfilm list.
