Hazlehurst

Mary Ashley Owens, 84, died Friday, June 23, 2006 at Pine Crest Guest Home in Hazlehurst. Visitation is 10-11 a.m. Monday at Shady Grove Baptist Church. Services are 11 a.m. Monday at the church with burial in Hazlehurst Cemetery. Stringer Family Funeral Services of Hazlehurst is handling arrangements.

Mr. Owens is preceded in death by her parents, Ailous and Josephine Ashley; brother, John Thomas Ashley; and sisters, Martha Ann Ashley Bone and Ruth Ashley Blackledge.

She is survived by by her husband, Roger G. Owens, Sr. of Jackson; three daughters, Mrs. Jimmy Ray (Marie) McCardle of Hazlehurst, Mrs. Roy Dale (Linda) Blue of Jackson and Mrs. Sandra Gray of Friendswood, TX; four grandchildren, Mrs. Brian Jay (Lydia) Capehart of Gulfport, Jonathan MCardle of Jackson, Ms. Josie Ashley Gray of Indianapolis, Ind., Eric Gray of Diamondhead and their father, Lester Gray of Diamondhead; three great grandchildren, Kelsey, Kyle and Kaytlin Capehart all of Gulfport; sisters include: Sadie Ashley Linn, Mrs. Arthur (Milma) Wiselogel, Thelma Ashley Furlow all of Jackson and Faye Ashley Straw of Florida; brother, William M. Ashley of Jackson; and a host of nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
