MANSFIELD: Tommie Carter, 71, passed this life on Monday, February 1, 2016 in his home after an extended illness.
Mr. Carter was born on Monday, January 29, 1945 in Rich, Mississippi (Coahoma County) to Willie and Adella (Campbell) Carter and had lived in Mansfield, Ohio the past 68 years.
Tommie was employed with the Ohio Brass Company and remained there after the company transferred ownership to the employees and the company was renamed Mansfield Ferrous giving 40 years of service between the two.
Tommie is survived by his wife: Dorothy Fuller Carter; daughter: Chanese Witcher, Highland, California; son: Overseer Tommie D. Carter and his wife Pastor Kim Harris Carter, Columbus, OH; two step-children;12 grandchildren, ten great grandchildren; nine siblings: Elsa "Jeanie" Carter, Permelia "Kay" (Bill) Henderson, Bevylon (Keith) Johnson, Lorraine (Kevin) Taylor, and Juan Carter, Denver, Colorado, Kenny Carter, Emily (Rickie) Pender, Columbus, OH, Davis, and Gloria (William) Lane, Mansfield, OH.
Tommie was preceded in death by his parents Willie and Adella (Campbell) Carter and Nathaniel Davis, two brothers Kim and Willie Carter, one sister Dorothy Davis. Funeral services will be held Saturday, at 11:00 AM in the New Life International Deliverance Ministries Church, 426 Sherman Place
