I am seeking information on my gggggrandmother Martha James who married James Scott in Claiborne County, Ms. 24 December 1824. We had always been told she was Choctaw Indian, but have been unable to verify. Some Mormon sources give her parents as Joel James and Alsey Phinney or Finny, born circa 1775. Does anyone have any additional information on these families?
