YOUNGSTOWN -
Glenda R. Cousin ended her earthly journey on April 3, 2014, at the Cleveland Clinic.
Glenda was born Oct. 28, 1924, in Chickasaw County, Woodland, Mississippi, to the late James Wesley and Emma Crowley Pratt.
She attended Huston High School in Houston, Miss. and graduated from Merry High School, Jackson, Tenn.
She received her formal education at Okolona College in Okolona, Miss. and later taught school in Woodland, Miss.
She met and married Harmilee Cousin Sr. and moved to Youngstown, Ohio (Mahoning County) in 1948.
Glenda was a former member of the Holy Trinity Missionary Baptist Church, serving as financial secretary.
She worked at the Associated Neighborhood Centers where she was employed as an outreach worker at the Clarence Robinson Center.
Glenda was a great baker and was known for her homemade parker house rolls and pineapple upside down cakes.
She was witty and fearless.
Her husband, Harmilee (HL) Cousin Sr., whom she married in 1946, preceded her in death in 1997.
Glenda leaves a daughter, Jennifer Cousin Miller, with whom she made her home; three sons, Harmilee Cousin Jr. (Kathy) of Frederick, Md., Dale V. Cousin (Regina) of Randalistown, Md. and Kim Cousin of Youngstown, Ohio.
She leaves two granddaughters, Brandi Stewart Boddie (James) of Arlington, Texas and Heather Elizabeth Cousin of Frederick; two grandsons, Sean Michael Miller (Nakia Nicole) of Brooklyn, and Harmilee Cousin, III of Milwaukee, Wis.; a sister-in-law, Mayteen Cousin Graham of St. Louis; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Patricia Cousin Stewart and a brother, James W. Pratt Jr.
The family will receive friends from noon to 1 p.m., Thursday at the New Bethel Baptist Church, 1507 Hillman St. in Youngstown, Ohio.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 10, 2014, at 1 p.m. at the New Bethel Baptist Church for Glenda R. Cousin, 89, with Elder Brennetta Stephens officiating.
