Here's a little bit more I was able to access this morning. I show that James David was born around 1855 in Mississippi. He died October 28, 1932. He married Emma F. Howard June 19, 1870. She was born around 1853 in MS. Sometime after her death, he married Anna Dubard, who died July 30, 1906.

George W. Townsend was born January 14, 1818 in Robeson County, North Carolina and died in 1880 in Carroll County, MS. He married Lucretia Bond February 16, 1842 in Choctaw County, MS. She was the daughter of James Bond and Sarah. She was born around 1826 in MS and died December 25, 1865 in Carroll County, MS.

They had eight children.
1. Sarah Evaline Townsend, born 12/2/1842 in MS and died 5/1/1920. She married William T. Howard 10/28/1860. He was born 11/7/1839 and died 3/5/1870. She then married Jesse Hightower in 1871. He was born 9/16/1832 and died in August 1902.
2. A twin born around 1845.
3. A twin born around 1845.
4. Edward Richard Townsend, born around 1848 in MS. He supposedly went to South America after the civil war.
5. Jackson Alexander Townsend born and died between 1850 and 1860.
6. James David Townsend
7. Benjamin F. Townsend born 10/12/1851 in MS and died in 1884 in a tragic accident on his farm. He married Lula Clark, who died 5/20/1885.
8. Jacob Monroe Townsend, my great grandfather, born 3/15/1859 in MS and died 11/6/1926 in Carroll County, MS. He married Ida L. O'Neal 6/24/1880 in Carroll County, MS.
