I'm working on an in-law's ancestry. She has a lot of family from Attala Co. Can someone tell me if folks there went out of their way to avoid probate? So far, finding a probate record for one of her ancestors is like finding a needle in a haystack. Those I have found have been in Noxubee Co. AFAICT, they were mostly land-owning farmers who should have left wills and probate cases. Is there something I should know about how inheritance was handled in Attala Co that is different from everywhere else?
