Toro Syversdotter Storhaug(en) was born November 23, 1842 on Storhaugen farm in Plassen region of Lom municipality of Oppland, Norway. Her parents were Syver Persson of Nedre Storlii (Storlien) farm in the Leirdalen region of Lom municipality and Brit Torkjellsdotter of Nordistugu Bakkeberg farm of Lom municipality of Oppland, Norway. Toro emigrated to America in 1859 on her own when she was 16 years old but I have been unable to find any record of her in the United States. She was followed seven years later in 1866 by her parents Syver & Brit and her two brothers; Peter and Torkel as well as her four sisters; Ingrid, Marit, Brit & Mari who all emigrated as a group to the Long Lake district of Watonwan County, Minnesota. Toro’s family took the surname of Lee upon their arrival in Minnesota in 1866. I have been able to find all of her family members and their respective spouses (Olson, Nelson, Sulheim, Gunelson,Tostelson, Burchedean) and records of their families as well as homestead records, census records, records of their deaths, etc. but cannot find any trace of Toro (Thora?). I have found a death record of an Edward Teigan who was born in Iowa on May 06, 1883 and died on Jan. 10,1952 in Los Angeles, California. The record identifies Edward’s mother’s maiden name as Lee.The reason that I believe that Edward’s mother could be my Toro (Thora?) is due to the baptismal record of my aunt Anna Torina Lee born 7 Jan 1890 bapt. 27 July 1890 in Long Lake, Watonwan County, MN. and whose parents Peder & Marit Lee are my grandparents. The baptismal record identifies a Tora Teigan as one of Anna Torina Lee's godparents. If anyone can provide any information, it would be very much appreciated if you would contact me.
