Gayle, thanks for responding. I received an e-mail from Jan Textor indicating his PRECHEL ancestors have some older connections to Podstulitz as well. He writes, "I strongly suspect that he [Jacob Prechel, d 1812, Zgorze in Congress Poland] and his wife came from the town of Podstolice (in German=Podstolitz or Postollitz) where they must have been living at some point of time. I base my belief on the fact that one of his sons, Michael, went back to that area from Zgorze at the age of 19 to get married in Jankendorf (Budzyn) to Eva Rosina Nicolai on 26 Nov 1797. They then went to live in Augustopol near Zgorze and later they moved to Zgorze. Another fact supporting my belief is that the town of Podstolice seems to have been a Prechel "nest", because I found quite a few Prechels in the Jankendorf Evangelical church books (LDS film 1194733) in the period 1783 to 1814. One Prechel was born in the town of Brzekiniec (Bracknitz) and all the others in Podstolice."
Thus, Johann, Gottlieb, and Christoph Prechel may be found in later Jankendorf records as well. But he says he didn't find Johann in 1812. Some others have found records of Radwonke and Podstulitz at Kolmar too. I'm not yet clear where to look.
Thanks for the interest. Ken Neumann
