It sounds as if this is linked to my family from Norwary Ole and Oline had at least 15 children- many 0f whom came to MN and settled in Roseau. I have all the names you mentioned in my fam il tree and also from a family generated book that was compiled in the 1980's. My family aslo has innumerable phots which I scanned and have on disc. I have been working on this family tree of my biological mother's side of the family for about 10 years. Let me know if there is anything you's like me to look up. I am in search of further information about Emily and Carl Haug. They were adopted by the Haugs born 1909 and 1910 respectively/ Emily had a daughter Della who is still alive, but she does not know who her moter's biological family was. We assume Emily and Carl we from "the family" and sadly Emily hung herself in 1952. At the age of 86 I would loike to able to help complete her "life story"...

My dad's 1st cousin was married to Marcel Novotny. I'm not sure if this is part of the same Novotny family I previously sent you info about. Knowing the area in Badger, my guess is it is. Marcel was probably a grandson. His father was James T. Novotny. Darlene

There is a: John J.& Stella (Kozel) Blazek found in the book. John was born in 1873 in Czechoslovakia. His father was Thomas Blazek. Stella's father was Frank Kozel, also from Czechoslovakia. His family immigrated to MN in 1888 & to Roseau Co. in 1894. Her family immigrated to N.Dakota in 1904. The couple were married in N.dak in 1909. They raised 2 Daughters.
Also mentioned are a Jerrie & Hilda Blazek. Jerrie is the son of a Frank & Frances Blazek from Czechoslovakia. He was born in 1910. A brother of Jerrie, Henry L & Lyla Blazek lived and raised a family in the Badger area. Which family are you interested in having information about? They may all be related. Sincerely Darlene

There are a: James and Elizabeth Novotny- that immigrated from Bohemia in 1863. Originally they settled in Montgomery MN and in 1844, they donated 40 acres of land to start a Catholic Church there. They moved to Badger in 1890. There were 13 children but only 2 are named in the article--James W. and Mike. There are several grandchildren mentioned. If this is your family, I will be happy to give you more of their information. I am unsure of what kind of information you need about-- Haug, Leo, or Badger. Haug & Leo are mainly only rural communities and Badger continues to exist. Let me know if this helps. Sincerely, Darlene

Hi-
I noticed this message while doing some research on the Holt family. My paternal grand-father was Henry Holt, brother of Agnes Solem and Jennie Grive. We are planning a Holt family reunion this summer in Mayville, ND. Would you be willing to share the information you have on the Holt family? You can email me at sharyl.hanson@gmail.com
Thanks!

There are probably lots of Brandli and Cole's in the book as they had big families and stayed in the area. Do you know where I can get a copy of the book?

They had moved there from Lyle, MN. I need more info. to verify it is the same family you are looking for.

barbdale_1 thank you very much, this definately seems to be the right family.

Anna Olsson = Anna Kristina Hansdatter (b.28 Oct 1847) from Lavik, Gratangen, Troms, Norway. Married in 1868 to Ole Anton Esaiassen (b.1 Sep 1844) from Kjeiprød, Lavangen, Troms, Norway.
According to old Norwegian naming traditions the children got their family name Olsen/Olsson from their father Ole, but what puzzled me was that Anna also seems to have adopted this name.

As for the children in the 1900 census:
-Edvin Olsson was baptized Esaias Eivind Olsen (b.1874)
-Jentoft Olsson was baptized Jentoft Karenius Meier Olsen (b.1881)
-Engvart Olsson was baptized Ingvard Kornelius Olsen (b.1886)
-James Olsson was new to me, and was born (1890) after arriving in the US.

Missing from the 1900 census compared to emigration records in Norway are:
-Herman L P (b.1878). Dead ?
-Alanda O H (b.1884). Married ?
-Charlotte M (b.1886). Dead ?

The family also had:
-Hansine M M Olsdatter (b.1870), married and stayed behind in Norway.
-Joakime K Olsdatter (1876-1878), dead before emigration.

All in all that counts for 9 children. The 1900 census counts 10 children of whom 6 living. So there is one name missing, but probably dead by 1900.

Any additional information on this family and descendants are most welcome.

Ole Anton Esaiassen (born 1844 in Lavangen, Troms, Norway), the brother of my great-grandfather Nils Olai Esaiassen, emigrated to the US in 1889-90 with his wife Anna and their children: Esaias Oeyvind (b 1874), Herman (1878), Jentoft (1881), Alanda (1884), Charlotte (1886) and Ingvard.

From an old relative (now dead) I heard twenty years ago that the family or some of the children ended up in Badger and/or Greenbush, Roseau county.

In a recent search on the internet I found that Ole's daughter Alanda must be identical to Alanda Gillebo (1886-1960) married to Harry Gillebo (d 1951), and in the 1930 census living in Greenbush, Roseau.

As for the other children I've not been able to find any information.

I would be grateful for any information on this family and their descendands.

Regards
J Falch
