John “Jack’ C. Mattson, 61, of
Barnum, died Tuesday, June 2, 2009, in
Mercy Hospital,
Moose Lake. He was born April 10, 1948, in
Moose Lake to Ernest and Elizabeth (Kankaala)
Mattson. Jack was an
Army veteran, serving in Germany from 1967-1969. Jack enjoyed four-wheeling, plowing snow, yard work, listening to gospel and old country music, church, and especially spending time with family and friends. Jack was a member of Seventh-day Adventist Church of
Moose Lake.
Jock was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Delores.
Jack is survived by his life partner of 26 years, Judy

Candy)

Moose Lake, Lee (Kris)
Harju of
Sturgeon Lake,
Lyle (Lavita)
Harju of
Wyandotte,
Oklahoma, and Mike (robin)
Harju of Duluth; stepdaughter, Michelle (John)
Graham of Cambridge; seven step grandchildren, Shauna, Stephie, Nikki,
Clint, Alyssa, Brandon and Peyton; and brother, James (Elaine)
Mattson of Osakis.
Visitation was Friday, June 5, from 6-8 p.m. in Hamlin-Hansen-Kosloski Funeral Home,
Moose Lake, and continued Saturday, June 6 from 2 p.m. until the 3 p.m. service in
Barnum Community United Methodist Church,
Barnum, with
Pastor Hal Kamppi officiating. Military honors provided by
Moose Lake American Legion Post 379.
Arrangements were with Hamlin-Hansen-Kosloski Funeral Home,
Moose Lake.
