State Census and newspaper ads for brides?

Classification: Query
Surnames: Young, Taylor, Ames
I finally found some new/strange information about the woman who md. my Grandfather (his second wife) and have more questions: Myrtle Adeline (Young) Taylor md. William Thomas Ames 23 Dec. 1918 in Crown Point, Lake, IN. HOWEVER: Myrtle states her present residence is Rochester, MN. where she was born to Louis & Emma Young, 1880; and William states his current residence is Grand Rapids, Michigan. How did they meet - did one advertise for a bride in a publication? (btw - both lied about previous marriages, Myrtle was md. to a Mr. Taylor at age 25; she said she had no prev. marriage). Is there a state census on which I might find this Myrtle? I cannot find her parents on any census, either. Once again I am stumped in researching this couple. I have all info on her from this marriage until her/their deaths in Illinois - have gotten all I can from that state. Nothing turns up on Ancestry. William "had" to find a wife to take care of my Mother who was only 3 at the time her Mother, my grandmother died, in Michigan.
