Can someone tell me the location of Greenwood Prairie, MN? I thought it was a town, but it seems to be a geographical area, covering parts of Olmsted & Wabasha counties. I have an ancestor supposedly buried there.

Supposedly, Greenwood Prairie is mentioned in the Plainview website as its center. Then in the History of Wabasha County, there is mention of Greenwood Prairie. Potsdam is mentioned as within this area which is just west of Plainview. And Framington township in Olmsted County seems to be mentioned and might be the new name of the original Greenwood Prairie, ie. renamed.

I was doing some research and happened to ntoice you were looking for Greenwood Prairie, Minnesota. I am originally from the town of Plainview Minnesota in Wabasha County Minnesota. My parents are buried in Greenwood Prairie Cemetery in Plainview Minnesota. It seems to me as a girl I was told that Greenwood Prairie was the name of the town or the considered name for the town but was changed to Plainview. I remember thinking why since that was such a pretty name for the area. Not sure if heresay or truth. This may be a possible lead for you. The phone number for the city hall is 507-534-2229. The city hall has the burial records and if you give them the name of whom you are looking for they may be able to help you out to see if you are looking in the right place or not. Hope this helps.
