Your line is not included in the work that I have been writing.

The LeDoux family is too large to include in one book.

Send me your E-mail address and I will attach the 2 page outline of your family tree.

Mary

Yes. Julien Ladoux also went by James. His wife Margaret (I have her last name as Trostachault) and he were married in Canada, went to Kankakee County, Illinois with the family, and later moved to Minnesota perhaps about the same time Michel senior and John Baptiste also went there to purchase cheap land. James and Margaret ended up living on a reservation. He lived a long life and after he died Margaret lived with a Civil War veteran. they were married just before he died so that she could apply for his pension, but I understand she was denied. There's a good deal of research that's been done by the Ladoux cousins email group since I posted that "family story" in 2009. The story about him marrying an Indian princess, etc., was all fabrication. If you like, I can connect you with the LaDoux cousins, all descendents of Michel Ladoux (Ledoux) senior.

I had read your last post and wanted to let you know that I am also a LeDoux and doing some research. My grandfather (Lazim LeDoux b dec. 26 1899) was the son of John Baptiste LeDoux and Marie St. Onge. The family i believe was started in Canada and then into Minnesota Belle Prairie / Little Falls area / Tower city in the Dakota's in Cass country. If you would please let me know how far you are on the book. I would be interested in purchasing it.

There was a set of Sloans in the Ft. Ripley area in 1850s-60s. I'd love to know about "Pewter-eye" Sloan myself. You will want to look into the Morrison Co. Hist. Society. Their website probably has a set of surnames as found in their re-published history of the Country transcribed from newspaper articles written by Nate Richardson. You will find some of the Sloans there. Arthur Garden is someone of interest in my own research. Write me when you learn anything! I'm working on the Rev. Ayer, who had been an Ojibwe missionary and who ran a school at Belle Prairie with his wife--many Indians, mixed bloods, and French Canadians in that community as well as communities distant from there appear to have attended. I want to know about these students! And I want any suitable photos of that period and place that can be found...reward available!

Oh, and Chabboilez (sp?) was the Indian trader at Red Lake in later 1840s. I've been looking very hard for info on him and his wife, who appears to have been one of the Converts--perhaps to Protestantism. Chabboilez worked for the (former but still sort of in operation) Am. Fur Co. I believe Chas. Oakes was his boss at that time. He was a part of the Protestant group and was not a liquor seller.
Linda Bryan, St. Paul

No, I don't think so...I don't have any other information about his siblings or family - other than his wife (and her entire line), his children and down the descending line of that. I have no knowledge if he had siblings that may have moved to Minnisota. BUT if he did, they may possilby could have? I know he once lived in Baddeck, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia Canada. Then briefly to Kenora (Rat Portage) Ontario, then Kaleida in the Municipality of Pembina in Manitoba / North Dakota border. Do you have any information that me lead me to a wider and more successful search?

I'm wondering if anyone knows and has information regarding my GGgrandfather, Neil Archibald Morrison. Supposedly born in Scotland, but lived in Baddeck NS - where his parents are supposedly buried. Neil was born around 1856? He moved to Kaleida, Pembina Municipality (Manitoba / North Dakota) after marrying my GGgrandmother Matilda Zilpha Moores (born in Matapedia, Quebec. Her parents were born in Miramichi New Brunswick. I have no links to Neil Archibald Morrison's siblings or parents - no names, but I do have his children, etc. I can't seem to trace his family. Does anyone know of Neil's siblings and parents?

The Duclos name is not so rare. My 9th. great grandfather was Jean Celle dit Duclos. He was born in France somewhere in the late 1590's or early 1600's. Jeans son, Gabriel Celle dit Duclos migrated to Montreal, Quebec, Canada some time around 1646.The Duclos has spread all over. It has been spelled more ways than I can name. In Missouri it became Declue. It has also been Decelle and Decelles. In Louisiana it became Desselles. The name is not as rare as you believe.
I am a Declue descendent.
Dale O'Bear

Hi Shelley - I had almost forgotten about you. I'm sorry to hear that your father doesn't speak to his daughters. How sad. I've made a bit of progress on the family tree over the last year or so. But I've gone about as far as I can go for now and haven't been doing too much lately. I am always interested in learning more about the earlier families. In particular, your dad had an Aunt Mary - (his father's older sister from John Sr.'s first marriage.) I've never found out if she married and what her married name was. But, chances are your dad may have never heard of her. So that remains one of the family mysteries yet to be solved. Good luck with your visit. I'm on Facebook under Joy Stellmach Bond.

Hi, My name is Shelley, I know of a Frances Stellmach in Embarress, MN, but I believe that to be her married name. My grandmother (paternal) is Claira Stellmach (Midas), I believe she was Polish as well. Do you think we may be linked.

Thank you
Shelley

Good Morning, Miss Joy

It has been a couple of years since I spoke with you last. I actually forgot about this until I googled my name and these messages came up. My mom's name is Jeanette Stellmach(Klinkner), born and raised in St. Cloud area, I know she has the last name of Walsing in her family lineage, German nationality. My father is Thomas Stellmach, I believe born and raised in the same area. He has/had 13 brothers and sisters all pretty much located in the St. Cloud area as well some have moved on. I have a better snap shot of my mothers lineage more so than my fathers. I know my dad's side of the family is Polish, not sure which region. Unfortunately, my father does not speak to his daughters and I cannot ask further questions of him. I am going home this Thursday and will try to speak with him again, but can't guarantee I will get much information. Have you found any further information of the Stellmach line.

Shelley

I recall you stating you planned to enlist the aid of a direct line Thommes in DNA testing - was that done?

Jim Thommes

Do you have a general idea of a death date? Even if you would have an approximate year it might be easier to find. With that info a date could be found at the courthouse, making the obit a little easier to look for.

Hello,
I am looking for anyone with any information on Arthur W. "Art" Sandstrom & his wife Irene, who lived in Swanville, Minnesota. Irene was my great aunt. They were married in Little Falls, Minnesota on 12,August 1954.
I am particularly looking for any Sandstrom relations to Art who might have some old photographs of him that they would not mind sharing. This was the second marriage for both Art and Irene, according to what I have found out so far Art's first wife was Caroline E. Berry, and Irene was married to John E. Lundstrom (John Lundstrom died in 1953).

Any information on Art Sandstrom or Irene would be appreciated.

Thank you, Keith Lawrence

k79lawrence@gmail.com

I have not been involved in the Thommes community for some time. We have made large strides in Peter and Anna Marie Thommes family tree in the last several years. Our Thommes family is just centered around Schillingen/Grimberg area. We have not found any connection outside this area. We are back to early 1700's with local documents.we now are in contact with Karos and Goeden families in Germany. We have also extended our understanding of the Chicago Thommes with the help of local family members. We are a work in progress. We would also like to encourage any direct line male Thommes to send in a sample of their DNA to Family Tree. We need volunteers to match up, this is the only way of proving lineage and also determining the relationships, or not, of different Thommes family lines. The test is easy and only requires a swab of the interior cheek. I don't know what the cost is now but it was under $100.00. They do run specials.

Thanks, Alice Radcliff

I have some information for you. I was at the Morrison County Courthouse today. I found a Dura COSTER in the death register. Date of death is July 13, 1918. I did not find a CORBIN but I think the info in the death listing may be what you want. There is no specific certificate at the courthouse, just a line with info. The gals at the courthouse said that if you request the certificate from the MN historical society, it may just be the following info typed on to the certificate or it could be the hand written death info. They can't be sure. What I have is from
Book D, Pg 201, Line 120:

Dura Coster, male, white, married,
date of birth: Aug. 9, 1842
date of death: July 13, 1918
Age 75 years, 11 months, 4 days
Retired farmer
Cause of death: prostate hypertrophy, general prolapse - old age
Birth place: New York (this was written across the columns for deceased, mother and father)
Father: Isaac Coster
Mother: Harriet Medbury
Physician: N. Durmont
Undertaker D.K. Harting

I hope MEDBURY is the name you are looking for. No wife is listed in the death information. If you would like, I may be able to search for an obit from the local paper if you need more info.

Hope this helps!
Stephanie

I might get a chance to get to the Morrison County Government Center in the next week and I could try to look up the death certificate for you. If it is the right one, then you will know if you should order it. Let me know if you would like me to look for you.

Yes thats the one...I have him then and in the..1875..1880..1885...1900..1910...and his death in 1918.I am trying to find out more on his father and mother to see Who Isaac's Father is and if Harriet's father is Joseph Medbury. I might have to order and pay for his death cert, But I'm use to being able to look up British Columbia"s vital registration and printing them off if they are right. Thank you for your help

The 1850 Census shows Dura Corbin living in Genesee, Waukesha, Wisconsin, age 8yo. He is the son of Isaac and Harriet Corbin. Born in New York. He has a sister Jane 6yo, and a sister Julia 3yo. Is this who you are looking for?
