CARLSON, JUNE H., 74, (obituary)

June H. Carlson, age 74, of Hutchinson, Minnesota passed away Saturday, June 13, 2009, at the Birchwood Hospice House in Hutchinson. Funeral Services were held Thursday, June 18, 2009, at Peace Lutheran Church in Hutchinson, with interment in the Roseville Cemetery in Hawick, Minnesota. Clergy Officiating was Pastor Gerhard Bode.

June Helen Carlson was born on June 2, 1935, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Walter and Mabel (Saunders) Gross. June was baptized as an adult on May 24, 2009. She received her education in Minneapolis.

On August 1, 1952, June was united in marriage to Robert “Bob” Carlson in Minneapolis. June and Robert resided in Minneapolis until 1968, when they moved to Coon Rapids, Minnesota. In 1977, they moved to the Kimball-Eden Valley, Minnesota area. They shared 47 years of marriage, until Robert passed away on September 14, 2000. In 2002, June moved to Hutchinson, Minnesota to live with her daughter, Shelly.

In addition to being a loving homemaker and mother, June held employment at Pioneer Plating in Minneapolis. She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Hutchinson. June was also a member of the St. Nicolas Knick-Knack Homemaker’s Club.

June enjoyed working on crafts and crocheting with her homemaking club, cooking and baking. She loved to travel and visit with family and friends. June also enjoyed playing cards. She especially enjoyed the time she spent with her children and grandchildren.

June became a resident of the Birchwood Hospice House on Wednesday, June 10, 2009. She passed away there on Saturday, June 13, 2009, at the age of 74 years. Blessed be her memory.

June is survived by her children; Dawn Perez and her husband, Paul of Coon Rapids, MN, Susan Carlson of Minneapolis, MN, Robert Carlson of Fridley, MN, Colleen Smetak of Caspian, MI, Roxie Carlson of Grafton, WI, Shelly Quast and her husband, Ken of Hutchinson, MN, Forrest “Gene” Carlson and his wife, Tana of Hawick, MN, 20 Grandchildren; 10 great Grandchildren; 1 Great Great Grandchild; Sisters, Betty Hultman, Pat Johnson and Marilyn Van Asch; Brothers, Bill Gross, Walter Gross, and Bob Gross; Nieces, Nephews, many other relatives and friends.

June is preceded in death by her Parents, Walter & Mabel Gross; Husband, Robert Carlson; Son, Brian Carlson; Grandchildren, Vanessa Nystrom and Robin Carlson; Sister, Peggy Nichols.
