SCHUTZ, GERTRUDE V., 93 (obituary)
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 20, 2009 at Assumption Catholic church in
Eden Valley for Gertrude V. Schutz, age 93, of
Eden Valley, who died Sunday at St. Benedict’s
Senior Community, St. Cloud. Rev. Virgil
Braun will officiate and burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call from 4-9 p.m. Tuesday (today) at
Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home in
Eden Valley. Eden Valley
Senior Citizens will pray at 4:30 p.m., followed by parish prayers at 6:30 p.m., and Assumption Christian Women Society and St. Joseph & St. Mary’s Catholic Aid
Council at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Gertrude V. Schutz was born April 11, 1916 on a farm near
Richmond to Jacob & Mary (
Braegelmann)
Kron. She married Andrew
Schutz on May 30, 1949 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in
Richmond. Gertrude and Andrew farmed for 29 years, and then moved to
Eden Valley where they were employed by Assumption
Parish doing janitorial work for 17 years. Gertrude moved to
Benedict Homes in St. Cloud in 2005 and then to St. Benedict’s Center in 2008. She was a member of Assumption Catholic Church, Assumption Christian Women Society,
Eden Valley
Senior Citizens, Mother Teresa Mission Group, and St. Joseph & St. Mary’s Catholic Aid
Council. Gerturde enjoyed quilting, sewing, growing flowers, and hosting family gatherings.
Survivors include her daughters and sons, Laura (Ed) Hill of
Cambridge, Ruth
Schutz of St. Cloud, Jerry (Deb)
Schutz of
Richmond, David (Margie)
Schutz of Paynesville, and Jane Brookstein of
Washington, DC; brother, Eugene
Kron of Richmond; nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Gertrude was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Andrew on Oct. 6, 1996; sisters, Elizabeth
Kron, Helen
Winkels, Rose
Blonigen, and Agnes Schutz; brothers,
Nick, Claude, Leo, and Othmar
Kron.
