Hi there! I'm hoping someone can do an obituary lookup for me. My names are: Halfvard/Halvord Skoglund b.August 24, 1847 in Likenäs, Dalby, Värmland, Sweden and Marit (Maria) Andersdotter Skoglund, wife of Halvard, b. June 16, 1844 in Mörbacka, Dalby, Värmland, Sweden. Both immigrated to USA around 1881. They lived in Marshall County, Minnesota and I think in Viking township but not sure. They are my Great-Great Grandparents and I would love to have their obituaries. I don't have an obituary but there is a nice brief biography in the Marshall County History book which I can type out and email to you. Halvar Skoglund died in Warren, Minnesota, in 1905 and is very probably buried in the Warren cemetery. An obituary would probably have been done by the Warren Sheaf, their local newspaper. Maria Andersdotter died at their daughter's (Hilma) farm in Foldahl Township in 1926. (This is close to Warren.)

I have been looking for a great aunt of mine who lived in foldahlmarshall county. her name was Hilma Dahlgren. in your query someone tod you that Maria Andersdaughter did at her daughter's hilma house. i know this is a sretch but was herlast name was dahlgren? was. Her husband
's name walfred. cant find them till they had move from foldahl to Ca.

My Hilma was born "Hilma Jönsson". When the family immigrated to USA the family took the name of SKOGLUND. So I don't think your Hilma and mine are the same. But maybe I can be of help to you....do you have a date of birth for your Hilma Dahlgren? Is Dahlgren her maiden name or married name? Foldahl township wasn't very big so we should be able to find the family. Was it California or Canada they moved to? You are no bother to me, I'm always glad to get a mail, even if it's not about my family, I'm always happy to help others. You replied to a posting of mine in Genforum wondering if my Hilma Westman was your Hilma Dahlgren? Well I just posted a reply in Genforum then decided to take a look on Ancestry for a Walfred Dahlgren and Hilma Dahlgren and found the following:


1930 California census lists:


Dahlgren, Walfred Head of household age 51 years, born in Sweden. Wife, Hilma aged 44 years, born in Minnesota and their children:


Arthur aged 20 years born in Washington
George aged 18 years born in Washington
Ole H. father aged 80 years born in Sweden


Does this sound like your family? Let me know and I can do some more digging...also if you would like to know more about your ancestors here in Sweden I can do some searching for you here as well.
