My Great Grandfather was John Shimek. He came to America
around 1869 when he was 19.
He farmed in the area around Kewaunee Wisconsin
He died of a burst appendix in 1901.
I do not know his parents names
But he had 2 sisters that came to Wisconsin around 1900 or so
He had a younger brother named Frank. Frank was killed around Feb 1899 in a logging accident. He was about 30 or so when the accident occured.
John Shimek (and I have seen several spellings of Shimek)
his first name was also spelled Jan
Married Mary Kozel she also came from Bohemia
They had several children the oldest was Charles he was my
Grandfather.
