My greatgrandparents met while he was boarding at the Doughtery? boarding house on Nicolett Island in the early 1880s (1881/1882) according to family writings. I am trying to locate the Enumeration District Nicolett Island would have been located for that census. Anyone familiar enough with the city to help me with the boundries? Would like to locate this family in the census if I could. Or perhaps does anyone know the names of the streets that are on Nicolett Island.

He is listed as living in Duluth in 1905 with family. Served in WW I and is burried in Ft. Snelling Cemetary. He was owner of the Minneapolis Times. Was married to Brenda Ueland for a short time in the 40's. Specifically, I am interested in the year 1938 - was he married then, did he have children living at home??? I believe he lived in S.E. Minneapolis in 1938.

I´m searching for ancesters and relatives, died or alive, to my fathers aunt`s husband Gustaf`Per Molander born the 11th of august 1881 in Oviken, Jamtland in Sweden.

We have heard that he emigreted to USA a few years after Julia Olson/Olofsdotter born 20th of April 1886 in Myssjo, Jamtland, Sweden. (She was my fathers aunt.)
They met and married in the USA somewhere and got four children in Hennepin, MINNESOTA:

I'm looking for descendants of Johanna Crowley Murphy, b 1861, in Sevastopol, Door County, Wisconsin. Was married (1880) to William Murphy born 1855 in Rockland, Depere, Brown County, Wisconsin and they farmed her family farm in Sevastopol. She moved her family (about 1910) to Minnesota after William's death in 1905. Had 11 children: Mary A., Dennis, William Jr., John A., Patrick F., Catherine, Ellen, Cornelius (Con), Thomas, Timothy, Michael Bernard.

Info about Frank Boyd Bush KIA 1943 burried in the Netherlands

One of my friends recently adopted the grave of Frank Boyd Bush from Hennepin on the US militairy cemetry of Margraten in the Netherlands. (All the graves of those brave men and women are adopted by Dutch civilians). My friend was of course curious about the history of this young man, who gave his life for the liberation of Europe on Octber 8, 1943 during a raid on Bremen (Germany).
I discovered already a lot of the raid to Bremen and the final hours of Frank, but couldn't much find about his family neither his youth.
Who can help me ?
Frank Boyd Bush was killed in action just a few weeks before his 23th anniversary. He was born on october 17, 1920 in Minnesota. I do have all reasons to believe in the county of Hennepin. Frank was 2nd Lt - navigator on a B17 Flying Fortress, called "PHARTZAC". His plane exploded above Bremen when it was hit by FLAK-canons. He jumped out, but as a survivor of the crew memorized, his chute was on fire mid-air.
In the local newspaper (I don't know which one) this message was published in 1943:
"Parents Told City Airman Is Missing
Lt. Frank B. Bush, 22
Missing in action: Oct. 8
Parents: Mr. and Mrs. R.B. Bush, 3929 Eighteenth avenue S".
I do think that his parents were Rush Boyd Bush, born in 1892 and died in October 1974 in Wayzata in the county of Hennepin. His mother is probably (but I am not sure about that) Bertha A. McCormick, born in 1888 and died in june 1962 in Hennepin.

The grandparents of Frank of his dad's side were Morrison J. BUSH and Sarah Elizabeth KEMERER. They got 4 children, among them Rush: Park Homer BUSH, Rush Boyd BUSH, Ella Hazel BUSH, Lloyd Irvin BUSH.

If Bertha A. McCormick was indeed the mother of Frank, then his grandma of mothers side had as maiden name Kaliher.

Maybe a certain Corinne Elizabeth Swanson (maiden name Bush) was a sister of Frank. I don't know if Frank had any brothers or sisters. If so, they had to be now in the eight-ties or nine-ties.

If you do have any more information for my friend about Frank's life or about direct relatives, I will be pleased to hear in order to inform my friend.

I have a copy of a newspaper article written 12/20/1896 titled: "Antedates Colonel Stevens -
Mousseau family the first white people to settle on the site of Minneapolis - Their early adventures."
The article states that Charles arrived from Montreal at age 21, working for Hudson Bay Co, arriving
at Ft Snelling in 1827. Helped build the Fort and stayed 7 yrs. Married Fanny(orAnnie) Perry in
1835. They settled in Mendota in a home furnished them by Gen Sibley. Children born to them:
Henry 1836/David 1838/Anthony 1841/Mary 1843/Mitchell 1845 or 1849/Ellen 1851/Bernard
1854/Paul 1856/Sophia 1858/ and Minnie 1862. Of course in French names would be
Antoine,Michel,Marie,Henri.
Charles died in 1881. Residences mentioned are: Mendota/Lake Calhoun/St Anthony/St Paul &
Mnpls. Hennepin Co
Article states that they assisted Col Stevens in building his home in Minnehaha Park.
My father was Gene Mitchell Mousseau. Grandfather was Calvin Goodrich and GGrandfather was Mitch, one of Charles' sons.
Would love to fill in lateral gaps in the tree! Anyone?

Sofie from Norway in any censuses in Minneapolis?

I wonder if somone could check any Minnesota censuses for Sofie Marie Melby.

She emigrated in 1887 ( approx). At the time, she listed her destination for "Madison". As I understand, there is a Madison in Minnesota.

But the reason that I search for Sofie in Minneapolis, is a remark on her brother Harald's immigrationpapers on Ellis Island in 1898.

I have on several occassions tried to locate info on the death of my grandmother who was known by the above names. She died in a house fire cause by her cooking oven. I am unsure of the date of her death bu believ it would have been prior 1924. (My father wss found staying with his grandmother in the 1920 census) However I am unsure whether she was dead at that stage. Looking for info on later census 1900 thru 1930 for the Samuel Miloslansky (Miloslosky) family. Samuel born in Illinois 1858, wife Rosa from Germany born in 1863, daughter Lottie born in Ilinois 1881 and son Henry born in Illinois 1883. Found them on Hennepin 1885 census with both spellings above but unable to locate anything other then that. Any help would be appreciated. Maybe they returned to Illinois? Actual spelling is Miloslawsky and most changed name to Mills.

I'm looking for information about Adolf Wilhelm Röst (Roest) born in Offerdal, Sweden on March 20, 1859. Parents: Per Engelbrektsson Röst and Brita Christina Schedin. Adolph emigrated from Sweden in 1882, he arrived to New York on Aug 16, 1882 (New York Passenger Lists).

In the census !900 I have found an Adolph B Rust, born 1859, immigration year 1882. He lives in Minneapolis together with his family: wife Carrie born abt 1859 in Sweden and daughter Helga C born 1897. I believe that this Adolph might be the person I'm looking for, but I need information that can confirm this.

In the 1910 census I find widow Carrie Rust and daughters Helga C, 13 years old and Annie E, 9 years old living in Spokane, WA.

I have not found Adolph in the Minnesota Death Index at Ancestry so he must have died before 1908. It is also possible that he died in WA: I have not found the family in the 1905 Minnesota Census.

According to the Census 1910, Carrie's immigration year is 1896 so she probably married Adolph in 1996 or 1997. Her maiden name is Jönsson according to daughter Helga's marriage license.

I have searched the Minnesota Birth Certificate Index at the website of Minnesota Historical Society but didn't find the birth records for Helga and Annie.

I'd be very grateful for any information about this family, especially for information that can confirm that Adolph B Rust is the Adolf W Rost I'm looking for.

I am looking for information on my family that spent most of their days in Hennepin county after coming from Sweden. My Grandma's name was Marjorie E. Johnson and she was born in Minnesota abt. 1910. Her fathers name was John Arvid Johnson who was born abt 1883 also in Minnesota, I believe her Mother's name was Emelia L.. Marjorie was married to Horace Jackson Lane of Lamor, Missouri and had a child named Gary Dilon Lane on July 27, 1937 in Kansas City, Mo. She died abt 1940. If anyone has any information on any of them I would greatly appreciate it.

Charles was born 7-30-1948.
Susan Kay (or Nora) was born 3-23-1950.

All three of us were placed for adoption with the Children's Aid Society or in foster homes in the early 50's. Our father's name was Charles Edwards, he was born in August of 1916 in Newport, Arkansas. Their mother's name was Nora and she may have lived in the Chicago area for a while.

I'm in the Detroit, MI area and would love to hear from them.

I need help concerning Minnesota adoption records. My husband's father was adopted in 1916 by John and Emma Kelvie, who lived in Minneapolis. I understand that Minnesota adoption records are sealed for 100 years. Is this true if all the involved parties are deceased? How do I find out what court handled his adoption if I want to petition the court to open his records? Were ther notices of adoption proceedings in the newspapers at that time? Any suggestions on how to break through this brick wall would be greatly appreciated!

I have a Mary Matilda (BECHTOLD) GERBERICH (sometimes spelled GARBERICK)born 20 Dec 1846 in Pennsylvania, who died in 1915 in Hennepin County, MN, and who body was shipped to Illinois to be buried next to her husband.

She is not listed in the Minnesota Death Index, but she died in Hennepin County, MN, in 1915.

Any suggestions? The local Illinois funeral directors do not have a record of her burial.

Peter Basting, born 2 September 1840 in Bertrange (Bartringen), Luxembourg, son of Peter Basting and Margaret Hilbert. He died 15 June 1900 in New Trier and is buried in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in New Trier.

I'm looking for any information about my adoptive grandmother, Gertrude Walburga Lanars. I have a copy of a baptism slip from St. Walburga's Church in Rogers, Minnesota Hassan Twp. In Hennepin County showing she was born 5/27/1879. It lists her father as Peter Lanars and her mother as Gertrude Dutter or Duttes.

I know she had at least one sister Susan whose married name was Marx. Her nephew's name was George Ralphael Lanars (born in March 27, 1899, died October 1984 in Beltrami, MN). His wife was named Myrtis Lanars, born Sept. 10, 1905, died November 1983 in Nicollet, MN.

Now to my questions:
1: Agnes is listed as single in the census, did she marry in Hennepin later?

2: At what date was the Census written? Early or late 1900?

3: Is it possible to find Agnes in later censuses? I have tried, but have not been sucessful at this?

Agnes is not listed among the housholds of Harold and Sophie in later censuses. This information is known to me. Sophie lived in and around Minneapolis. As did Harold.

Agnes did also have a sister, Inga Signe Melby, born, 1876. I have not found any information on Inga Signe Melby after 1891, and not found her in any censuses. But out of 6 siblings, she (Inga Signe) would have been the only one who did not emigrate. So she might have emigrated.

I do not know wheter or not this is "my" Agnes. But it does not say in the census that she works for a living. So this story is not yet confirmed.
I do not think it is her. But who knows?

I hope that someone out there can help me! I have tried to find information about Agnes for a long time, with few results.

Their first destination was Willmar, Kandiyohi Co.,Minnesota. Later on, we know Inger moved to King County. She is found where in the 1910 census in Seattle at 6th Presinst, in 1920 census at Kennydale Pricinot and in 1930 census in Seattle City. Inger (Engel) was married to Johannes Flatabø (b. 1879). Their children was Helga Flatabo b. 1906 in Minnesota, Borghild (Beekel) Flatabo b. 1907 in Washington, Eric Flatabo b. 1910 in Washington and Ingrid Flatabo b. 1915 in Washington. Sigurd Paul Christensen b.12 jun 1887 in Norway. He was married to Carrie Rud. They had 5 children: Edna, Norman Sigurd, Roy Evelyn and Robert. The children are my second cousins. In Census 1930 the family lived in 1723 Superior Blvd. Minneapolis.

I have tried for a long time to find out more about this family. The only thing I found was that Norman Sigurd lived in California and is buried there. There is no orbituary to find.

Looking for the marriage or divorce of Ferol Derrick. She is on the 1930 census of Hennipin County as the propriator of a rooming house, 37 years old and married at 16.

Searching for the death of Nils Månsson. He was born in Sweden 29 May 1857, emigrated 12 March 1889 with the destiantion Minneapolis. He arrieved in N.Y. 1 April 1889. A letter is mentioning that he is dead before/in 1896.
Nils left his family back in Sweden, a wife and 2 children. He also had 2 sisters in Kansas but there seem to have been no contact between them.

I am trying to record all the civil war veterans that lived in Yellow Medicine County, I have a William Dodge that lived here in Granite Falls, he was in the 1st MN Inf. He died June 30th, 1915, can someone do an Obit look up? I would really appreciate it.
