This is the index of the marriage of Erland Berge's parents from familysearch.org. The last name Berge could have come from the home farm of the mother, Bergum. (Which can mean "around the mountain.")

This is the actual church record - parish book - scan of their marriage. They were from Gausdal in Oppland county Norway.

This is the translation of their marriage record:

Their marriage was Dec. 27, in 1834, but the Gausdal records were written down under 1835 - I don't know why. Maybe the holidays were too hectic and the minister did it the next week. The church was Gausdal. also spelled Gusdal on some older records.

They are couple #6 on the left side of the page.

Ungkarl (bachelor) Anders Bertelsen age 36 from Lodengaard farm, father is Bertel Olsen. Pige (single girl) Sophie Olsdatter age 27, from Kirkebøe? farm, father is Ole Simonsen.

One witness to their marriage is Ole Engebretsen Loghaugen??
and the other is Ole Bertelsen Lodengaard -probably Anders Bertelsen's brother? Also living at Lodengaard

Here is the actual scan of the birth record for Sophie Olsdatter Bergum, with the above parents. I can't make out the farm name exactly from this record, I just can't make out that handwriting!

Sophie is Midway down the page, baptised March 6, but born March 2. Usually the baptism is not that close to the birth, but if the baby my die, then it was home baptised. But often the baby wasn't baptised until the mother was able to come to the church too.

I did find the farm Lodengaard in Gausdal on the 1865 census, and the retired farmer and previous owner is still living there, he is Ole Bertilsen Lodengaard - probably the witness to their marriage, and most likely the brother of Anders Bertelsen Lodengaard who emigrated to Wisconsin. Which explains - older brother inherits the farm and parents, younger brothers have to go out into the world and make their own way.

Here is Erland's father Anders Bertilsen Lodengaard as a little kid about age 2. The farm is spelled Laadengaard (aa makes a long o sound like in the minnesota pronunciation of the word Boat.)

http://digitalarkivet.uib.no/cgi-win/webcens.exe?slag=visbas...

The farm census includes his parents, siblings, paternal Grandmother and paternal uncle. Also, hired farm hands and a tenant farmer who works for them.

the farm and family history for these farms may be available - with a chapter on the Lodengaard farm that will tell the history and ownership and people who were from this farm.
Email this lookups volunteer who owns the book for Gausdal, and can help you find out more.

Here's a good lookups volunteer who might have the emigration for your family - Erland's parents - in a database:
Bygdebøker from Gausdal Gudbransdalen with a list of people that immigrated from that area between 1845 and 1870; that also includes Follebu which is part of Gausdal. I will be glad to do some look up for people.

The couple who are Erland Berge's parents had children in Norway before they left. These are a good match for older siblings of Erland. Svatsum (Svadsums) was the name of the local parish church where they lived. The school district was called Nedre Svadsums on one record I found.

I could find the actual scans for those birth records, which would tell the farm that Anders Bertilsen and Sophie Olsdatter lived on when they were young marrieds in Norway.
