Hi Rikki,

I just found out today that Karsten Springborg is my great grandfather too. His son Elmer is my grandfather. I never met him. His son, (my father) is Robert Springborg. I did know his other son though...I took care of Uncle Emil when I worked at the Good Samaritin Nursing home. He had Parkinson's disease. I do not know my father very well. But, I can try to answer some of your questions. I had to find my family when I had a bout of Colon Cancer 13 years ago. Turns out the Springborg family is full of it. All my aunts and uncles have died from it. I am hoping to resume a relationship with you as we are cousins. Shirt tail...but that's just fine. Family is family. But the Springborgs are not the family type. Sad...but true.
You may contact my email...theLadyBugPro@gmail.com
I hope to be of some assistance to you...as I am in search as well.
Sincerely Yours,
Sheri Lee (Springbog) Anderson
Phoenix Arizona

He was married to Frances and they had a daughter Shirley Hollahan.

Gordon was born to Rena's sister Mary and her husband John Hollahan.

Also was able to find a date of death on Marie (Anderson) Hollahan. She died 14 Feb 1910 in Spokane. Mary/Marie was married to John Hollahan.

Thank you for blowing the door wide open on this!

Clarke Publishing Co., 1919, Volume II, page 1061

"AUSTIN E. TYRRELL.
Although the business training and experience of Austin E. Tyrrell previous to his arrival in Yakima county was totally unlike fruit growing, his activities being directed along clerical lines, he has nevertheless met with substantial
success in the development of orchards in the Selah valley, where he now makes his home. He was born in Waseca county, Minnesota, January 27, 1871, a son of Edward and Mary Tyrrell, who in 1868 became residents of that state, removing to the upper Mississippi valley from Maine.... On the 20th of May, 1900, Mr. Tyrrell was united in marriage to Miss Rena Anderson, a native of Minnesota and a daughter of T.
I think Ruth and Anna are the same person. I looked over this census and found her sister and husband here, also Ruth/Anna's mother is here too. In 1880 Census, her mother Lydia (Blackford) Lewellen is listed with Anna and Cal's 2 children, Jennie Belle and Eddie (Edson). I haven't been able to find a death record for either Ruth Anna or Cal? I tried to find a birth record for a "Cal?" Squiers in Bennington, VT but couldn't find anything. Wish I knew what happened to these two.

Hello! I am looking for any possible connection to a Thomas & Sena (Wangen) Bell family. In the 1940 census they are living in Albert Lea Twp in Freeborn Co. They are listed there with their 8 children: Joseph, Clifford, Anna, Edith, Theodore, Kenneth, Maurine & Henry. Anna, Edith, Theodore, Kenneth were all born in TX and the other children in MN. In the 1920 census they are living in Trinity Co. TX and then back in Freeborn Co in 1930. My quandry is that of Sena (or Lina)...she is listed as being born in Norway around 1884. I also have a Sena Wangen in my family who disappeared around 1906. It as been told that she may have left then for Minneapolis (she had relatives there). I would be curious if this might be my missing 2nd great aunt. I do see that there are a few Wangen's listed in the 1870s through 1940s so my research could be off. Any help or leads would be great! Thanks!!

One thing that I initially failed to realize about the 1860 for Jefferson Township, Allamakee county, Iowa - three doors down from Calvin & Mary E. Squier is Chares and Polly Squier. He is 74 and born in NY, while she is 73 and born in VT. Howard and Alace Corunich are living with them, along with their five children.

It just seems like Caloui could so easily be Calvin, with his parents living just a few doors away. It just seems so hard to believe that he could have two families in 1870-72 living several states apart from each other.

Second thoughts on the Calvin & Mary Emeline Squires family from Jefferson township, Allamakee county, Iowa on the 1860.

Lining up the children and their ages, it appears to be the same family as the James C. & Emeline Squares family in Complanter, Venango county, PA on the 1870. They just changed their birth locations in a lot of instances.

I'm still stuck on Calvin Squier. I see a Calvin (32, VT) married to Mary Emeline (26, NY) on the 1856 state census for Jefferson township, Allamakee county, Iowa. They have Sarah Seratta (5, PA), George Edgar (3, PA), Sophronia Maria (1, Iowa), and baby Alice M.E.

The family is still there in the 1860, with the addition of Frederick O. (1) and Daniel L. (4/10).

I don't find them any where in 1870, except that there is a James C. & Emeline Squares family in Complanter, Venango county, PA with Melinda (14), Ida (9), George (17), Fred (11), Daniel (10), Sophronia (16) (all born in Iowa) and several other children born in PA. It is looking suspiciously like the children's mother, Mary Emeline, died and then the father, Calvin, sent all the children back to Pennsylvania to live with some relatives. Then he remarried to a much younger woman and had a couple more children.

So far, I have not been able to locate the PA "Squares" family on the 1880. I imagine that most of the older girls had married by then. But I thought I would be able to find some of the younger children still living in a Squier's household somewhere.

I will have to look at Langeland, Denmark. It's been a long time since I've done any work in Danish records. But maybe I can find my way through them again.

Merry Christmas!!

I saw one public tree on ancestry.com that said Ruth Ann Blackford married Calvin Squier/Squires. I wasn't quite sure about that, since there was that John and Lydia Blackford with a daughter named Delia Ann.

Now that I see a Calvin (40, Vermont) and Ruth Squier (22, Ohio) in Monona township (Dwelling 193) on the 1870, I am starting to think that Ruth may really be Ann. Maybe Lydia and her husband took over Calvin's farm in Monona twnshp after he passed on?

OK, I see Jennie and Herman on the 1895 state census for Steele county. They are with his (Danish) parents who have lived in MN for 27 years and have lived in this enumeration district for 3 years. My own Danish family were from that area also and they were butter makers from the dairies a little further south.

Do you already have a copy of Jennie's marriage record?
I found Lydia and John. John was born in Illinois and died in Indiana in 1879. I find the children for Caloui and Anna living with Grandma Lydia and her new husband (without Cal or Anna) on the 1880 census in Iowa. Eddie was born in 1871 and Jennie in 1872 and according to the census they were both born in Iowa. So it looks like Cal and Anna didn't live long in MN since they living there in 1869 when they married and back in Iowa for the kids births. The next time I find Jennie Belle, she is marrying Herman Hanson in 1894 and she's back in Owatonna, MN. So my Cal and Anna are still a mystery. Thanks for your help though.

According to the transcribed marriage record on familysearch.org Anna Blackford's parents were John and Lydia Blackford. There is a John and Lydia on the 1870 in Moscow, Muscatine county, Iowa.

1870 Moscow, Muscatine county, Iowa
John Blackford, 48, b. New Jersey
Lydia, 38, b. Unfortunately it doesn't say how old he was or where he was born.

When I search Minnesota Territorial and State Census, 1865 results for Charles I get 15 hits. But none have a surname like Squier. I also tried the MN 1875, Prairie du Chen for 1870, and 1850 for Freeborn County. I don't see Charles Squier, Mary, and their son Caloni.

I am seeking informaton on the burial site of William Michael Hoffman (1835-1920) and his first wife Catharine Murray Hoffman (1856-1881?). Josephine Lilly Hoffman, William's 2nd wife is buried in Lakeside Cemetery in Martin County (Fairmont) with their 2 daughters and their husbands, but William is not listed with them on the Lakeside Cemetery Actuary. I'm not sure when Catharine died, she is on the 1880 census for Albert Lea in Freeborn County, living with her daughter Ann Hoffman Murphy. William is not living with them, so perhaps they divorced, as he married Josephine in 1882.
William died Nov 28, 1920 in Martin County.
Anyway, if anyone knows where he and/or Catharine are buried, it would be helpful and appreciated.
