you need to go to Grand Marais, its beautiful there. From what I was told, the Obitz, moved to St. Michael, Minnesota and are supposed to be burried there. Louisa Haffner, My great great grandmother was the daughter of Clara Obitz and I am working that out currently so I can fix my ancestory listings. I have obits of my GGgrandma Louisa which should mention it and can send to you if you like. The Obitz came from Prussia/Germany area.

Hi, Came across an offer on Norway-L from one who have been on vacation at the North Shore of Lake Superior, of course I was to late, the e.mail didn't work anymore.
He had been at the Commercal fishing Museum at Tofte, Cook Co. He had probably taken a photo of a photograph which shows a group of Norwegian imigrants and their Minnesota relatives. The group was on board the ship " America" ready to sail from Duluth to Tofte.
I have these relatives on the picture. Hokon Sandvold,
Chris Tormundsen, Engel Tormundsen, Mrs. Andrew Tofte and Mrs. John Tofte. Wonder if some of their descendants read this. Regards Magnar Hjelmeland.

I have an old photo box with Photos of William Ellquist and family and also a document dated Sept 13th 1897 I think is his citizenship papers..he renouces forever the King Of Sweden and he emigrated to the USA and landed at the port of New York on or about the month of May, 1880.
