I have taken photos of cemeteries in the area. One thing that puzzled me about Saron cemetery is...why take a photo of a
Larson headstone without following it by photos of footstones. The gazebo showed a listing for
Ole and Julia
Larson on the NE side of the Saron cemetery. And there is a large
Larson headstone. No first names. No footstones. Which makes sense out of my photography trail. And I did check all around the headstone. Compared it with nearby headstones with relationship to their footstones. Since the same cemetery keeper would have instructed where the markers should be placed. There is a minor indention on the soil where a single footstone should have been placed. I am still recovering from a broken leg. Based on my 35000 other photos, I do not expect a footstone in the minor indention in the grass. You can easily see the
Larson headstone from the highway. The descendents can call the still active church. Still no sign of Ole's father Erik
Larsen. Microfilm of a Granite
Falls newspaper might have Erik Laron's obit. Ole
Larson did pass away when farms where auctioned off. Here is a link to a movie that was taken 20 some miles NW of the Saron church. That church was
Zion Lutheran Church a couple of miles NW of
Watson,
Minnesota.
http://www.sweetlandmovie.com/To give the desendcents what their ancestors might have experienced. Film is based around 1920. Ole
Larson passed away Christmas 1918. Another family historian said Ole's father Erik
Larson passed away Nov 17 1891. Erik is not listed at the
Chippewa County courthouse. My best guesses are Yellow Medicine or
Renville counties. And Yellow Medicine is the best guess. The microfilm around that time talked about a doctor in Granite
Falls. I only saw one thanks for attending someones funeral. But no obits for anyone for the Montevideo newspapers. No talk of the Granite
Falls township area to the SE. Only news of Montevideo and local news to the west to the north.
