OBIT for Fanny

IRON POINT LADY CALLED BY DEATH SUNDAY MORNING
The residents of Iron Point community, northeast of Pine River,[MN], received a shock last Sunday when they learned of the death of their good neighbor, Mrs. John H. Benit, who passed away at her home early that morning. Mrs. Benit was in fairly good health up until four days before she died, when she suffered a stroke which was the cause of her death at 4 o'clock Sunday morning. She was a familiar figure in Pine River, having made her regular weekly shopping trips to the village. Her last trip was made the Tuesday before she passed away, she expressed to friends in town on that day that she was not feeling so well of late. Mrs. Benit was a devoted wife and mother. She was always ready and willing to lend a helping hand in her community and will be greatly missed by her many friends and neighbors.

Fannie Elizabeth (Howen) Benit was born at Morrisonville, Ill., March 9, 1875. When a young girl of 13 years, she moved with her parents to IRETON, Iowa, where on March 20, 1895, she was united in marriage to John H. Benit. To this union two sons were born, John A. Benit of Pine River, and Willie H. Benit of Grand Rapids, Mich. In the fall of 1917 the Benit family moved to Iron Point community and have made their home there continuously since that time. Mrs. Benit was 58 years of age at the time of her death. She leaves to mourn besides her husband and sons, four brothers and a sister. They are Albert Howen of Lakota, N. Dak., Fred and George Howen of Milbank, S. Dak., Cornelius H. Howen of Orton ville, Minn., and Mrs. Mary Smitr of Doon, Iowa.

The funeral, attended by all her neighbors and many of the townfolks, was held from the Methodist church Monday afternoon, with Rev. E.W. Gebhard officiating. Burial was made in Pine Ridge cemetery.
