William O Russell was Born: 1867 Minneasota. He married Cornelia Ann Bond in 1888 in Anoka Minneasota. They were married in the Quaker Church.

William used the name Obed according to one of his daughters before she passed on. And I found in the funeral papers of his son William Goldsmith Russell that he used the name Olied.

I am trying to find William O Russell ,the place he was born , who his family were and when he died. He and Cornelia split up some time before 1930 I believe.

Thank you,
Carolyn M Russell

Starkey family

Has anyone followed the Starkey family that grew up in the Anoka area? John M. Starkey and Delia Ann Gay had the children: John A., Samuel D., Addison Dennis, Angeline, Thomas Jeferson, Reubon Dudley, Delia Ann, and Laura Ett.

In particular, I would like to learn about the death of Angeline. She married Herman Hibbard 4 Jul 1876 and then he died in 1890. Somewhere along the line she married a Howell but no census has her living with him (but named a Howell while living with her children). I can't find her in the 1930 census and don't know what happened to her. Herman was my grandfather's uncle.

I am also interested in learning what happened to Laura Ett Starkey. She was born in abt 1874 but I know of nothing else. Finally, I do not know much about the descendants of any of the other children.

Any ideas?

George E. Barber b/1839 one location says Me another Canada. It does say his parents are from Canada and 1850 MN census shows George with family Edward & Mary Barber from Canada. By 1860 MN census Ed & Mary are living next door to George and wife Mary and first child George in Hennepin Co. MN. It appears that George joined Civil War in the 1st MN Light Artillery as a private and later requested pension from this service. By 1880 the Barber family removed to Anoka County, MN with George 1838, Mary J. 1844, George H 1859, Charles L. 1863, Dorinda B. 1867. By 1900 the family all removed to Snohomish Co. Washington and George & Mary lived in Everett WA till their death. George died 1915. In his obit it noted surviving are his three children Charles of Coolee City, Mrs. Edward Hunter (should be Dorinda) of MN dose not name the third but George H. is the only one left. George is burried at our Evergreen Cemetery in Everett, WA and is a part of our Civil War project. Would love to hear from anyone researching this family and share what we have.

I am looking for help locating 2 cemeteries. The first one is for Hattie Brissett. Death certificate states she is buried in Oak Grove Cemetery, Anoka County. Can anyone tell me an address and who might have the cemetery records?
The second cemetery I'm looking for is from 1908. There were 5 Brissett children who died in a house fire on Sept 8, 1908 in St.Paul. The mortuary was Willerscheids. The death certificate says the burials were on Sept 11, 1908 in the Town of Blaine, Anoka, County. Does anyone know what cemetery that might be?
Thanks for any help or leads.
Leslie

DR. JOHN SANDBERG CABINET CARD PHOTO FOUND

I have purchased/rescued an old cabinet card photo of an older gentleman named Dr. John Sandberg. This is written on the back of the card, along with “Uncle Doc.” The photo measures 3 7/8 X 5 ½ and is in excellent condition. The photo was taken by Kierski Photographers in Minneapolis, MN. The photo is in excellent condition. Dr. Sandberg has on a dark jacket, white shirt with a white bow tie. He has a beard, and he is not wearing a hat. My guess on dating this photo would be 1890’s era. I have no other info on Dr. Sandberg. What I do is try to rescue any old identified photo that I find and return it to the family, or another safe haven. I simply try to save those precious few old photos which are identified. So. If Dr. Sandberg is yours, or you may be interested in this photo, please contact me at: jmje36@aol.com. Thank you, Judy in TX
MINNEAPOLIS AREA CABINET CARD PHOTO FOUND

I have rescued a small cabinet card photo of a little girl who is identified on the back of the card on which the photo is affixed as Agnes Varner. The last name is not perfectly clear, but I believe it is Varner. The inscription on the back is: “Agnes Varner to Kathie B.” The only identifying info on the front side of the card is the word “Dorge” on the left bottom and “Mnpls” on the right bottom. My take on this is that Dorge is the photographer, and Mnpls is Minneapolis. I believe this photo could be as early as the 1880’s or 1890’s. Young Agnes appears to be about 10 years of age. This photo is small, about 1 ½ X 2 inches. The card measures 2 ¾ X 3 ¾. The photo is in quite good condition, no damage to the image and no tears or creases. I try to purchase/rescue any old identified photo that I find and then try to find the family, or a safe haven for it. So, if Agnes is yours, or if you may be an interested party, please contact me at: jmje36@aol.com. I am not on any of the mail lists which pertain to this little girl. Thank you. Judy in TX
Did you know that birth records are a vital part of genealogy? Birth records are usually filled out by the parents, but not always filed. Add your ancestors births to the Minnesota birth site. Your information can help out someone looking for a relative.

http://www.rootsweb.com/~mnbirths/minnesota.htm

Hi, I am searching for information on the LAVALLEE family members who were in the St. Paul area in 1850 and mine moved to the Centerville, Anoka Co., MN area. My g-grandfather is FRANCOIS XAVIER LAVALLEE who married Marie Sheppard and then married ADELINE SWARTZ. They had a daughter ZOE JUSTINE LAVALLEE in 1888 in Centerville and then a son ALONZO LAVALLEE. I believe that Francois was oldser and died sometime in the 1880s. Adeline then married Thomas McCarthy and had more children.

Do any of these names commect with your family genealogy?
I have found one relative connected to the McCarthys and one connected to the a Lavallee brother of my Francois. I have very little info on his & Zoe's family.

(3 May 1907 - 14 Apr 1914), and Esther Edna (Mar 1910 - 14 Feb 1911). Mabel and Myrtle both died as children on the same day from scarlet fever.

Daniel Lester Eden married Ruth Eldora Stuart around 1922 in Anoka. Their children were Evelyn Pearl, Leroy W., Donald Ernest, Janet Louise, Ruth, Juanita Mabel, Maxine Grace, and a baby boy born and died on 25 Mar 1942.

I'd love to hear from anyone related to this family or having any information about them.
Walter Barter a/k/a William Bates, Bradford ME to Anoka MN

Walter Barter, b. 14 February 1870 in Bradford ME, moved to Minnesota around the end of the century. His daughter Hazel died in Anoka 30 July 1908, age 10, her death record found in Minnesota VR. His wife Mabel also died but her death record has not been found. Walter was a blacksmith and probably had a blacksmith shop in the Anoka area. After his wife and child died, Walter apparently changed his name to William Bates, moved to Canada, remarried, and had another family. Any information about either Walter Barter or William Bates would be welcomed.

Blanchard and Bowen 1882 marriage

I have found a reference to a June 17, 1882 wedding of Maria Bowen and Jessie [sic] Blanchard in "Ramsey, Minnesota". I don't know if this means Ramsey County or Ramsey, Anoka County, and so I am posting here as well as the Ramsey County board to see if anyone knows more about this marriage. My great grandmother had a sister, Maria Blanchard, who was shown as a widow in the 1900 U.S. Census of Lawler, Chickasaw County, Iowa. Maria was born in Ireland in 1840 and her maiden name was Bohan, but the name is variously spelled in records, sometimes Bowen sometimes Boughen.

ARRELL, RATHBUN, MINGO

Hello all!
My great-grandfather was Francis "Frank" Richard ARRELL b. 26 Nov 1866 in Dayton and d. 13 Feb 1926 in Independence OR. He was married to my great-grandmother Lora Emma RATHBUN (b. 27 Sep 1869 in Brooklyn MN d. 7 Sep 1964 in Independence OR) in Burns, Anoka, MN on 1 Apr 1888 in the home of Eber M. RATHBUN (Lora's father). Frank and Lora moved with their children (they had 5 at that point) to OR in 1904, but they left much family behind in Anoka Co. and the surrounding area. Before Frank and Lora moved they lived on a farm in Burns, Anoka Co., MN. From the best I can tell, both Frank and Lora's parents lived in Anoka Co. as well. MINGO ties into this because two of Franks 10 siblings (Josephine ARRELL and William ARRELL) married a MINGO brother and sister (Edward MINGO and Philomine MINGO).
I have much more information, although for every bit of info I have I'm probably missing a piece! ;-) (Isn't that the way genenalogy always is?!) I'm definately willing to trade/share information!!
So if you have ARRELL, RATHBUN, or MINGO in Anoka Co. or any of the surrounding counties, please drop me an e-mail at SWilli0917@aol.com.
I'd also be interested in hearing from *anyone* researching ARRELL, no matter where your ARRELL line might be from.
Thanks much!

Sharyl
