Ernest was born about 1819 in Germany, Charlotte was born about 1821 in Germany. They lived in the Town of Watertown, Jefferson County, Wisconsin from about (1868 - 1930)

They are my great great grand parents on my father's side. Their grand-daughter Mary (Maria) was my grand mother. Born to Ferdinand Ernest Wockenfuss and Johama Dorthea Schmidt in 1887 in Gorton South Dakota. Does any one have any information for me?

I'm doing genealogy work along with my third cousin. We are Fred and Marie(KRAUS)Henschke family from Hustisford, Wisconsin. They along with their first five children later moved to Martinsburg Township in Minnesota. Valine remembers writing a Allan Wockenfuss who was in the service from wisconsin. She along with her father Edward and my Great-Great Grandfather went to visited them around 1944 while they were in Wisconsin for a funeral. She believes were related but can't remember from the Henschke's or Kraus's.I don't know if this has any bearing on what your looking for.

Yes, I think that Alan may be a son of Otto & Lenora (Reuteler) Wockenfuss, I'm trying to figure out there family. Since first posted this message I have learned that the Wockenfuss family immigrated from Schlawe, Coslin, hinter Pomerania, today: Koszaln, Poland, and entered American through the port of Detroit, June 1868. Otto Wockenfuss was my father's uncle. I remember visiting them as a small child somewhere in Minnesota. I don't know of any Henscke or Kraus's in the Family.

Julie,

My wife is from the Reuteler-Kraus lines, specifically from Ida Barbara Kraus, sister of Marie (Mary) Kraus Henschke. Do you have information on the Kraus family that you would like to share? I would especially like to trace Conrad C. Kraus and Eva Caroline Oehrl (Ida Barbara and Marie's parents) back into the German states. I have some bits and pieces in Europe and a moderately good history of them in the US.

By the way, Ida Barbara Kraus Reuteler's daughter Leonora Amanda Reuteler married Otto Wockenfuss. Alan was the youngest of their three children.

Marilyn,

I may be able to help untangle the Reuteler/Kraus side of the Otto and Leonora (Reuteler) Wockenfuss family. My wife's grandmother Lillian Reuteler Carlson was sister of Leonora (commonly called Laura) Reuteler Wockenfuss. Their mother was Ida Kraus Reuteler. Ida Kraus' sister was Maria Kraus who married Fred Henschke. The lady you were responding to is a descendent of Fred and Maria (Kraus) Henschke.

I do have additional information on Laura Wockenfuss' parents, Conrad C. Kraus and Eva Caroline Oehrl.

While I was telling my wife about your message, I was chewing on a cookie. She said, "Do you realize that cookie was made with Aunt Laura's (Wockenfuss) recipe?"

Yes, Alan was the youngest of Otto and Laura's three children.

The Wockenfusses used to have a small resort on a lake near Milaca Minnesota. My wife remembers visiting there. This would have been in the late 1940's and early 1950's.

John,

Thank you for your response. I would be happy to have more information on Laura's family. This past year I received a picture book full of Wockenfuss family pictures. I have several of Uncle Otto, Laura, Elda, Wilbur and Allan. If you like, I can send them to you.

I remember visiting them at their resort also, probably about 1955. My sister who lives outside of Princeton told me she located their graves and I plan to visit them the next time I am in Minnesota.
If you contact me at my e-mail below, I will send along the pictures.
Thank you
Marilyn
