Thanks, Brad for responding to my post and for the additional information. Orville was a son of Hiram Elshire and his wife, Anna. Hiram's brother Noah Moses Elshire married into my Everly family.

The SD Death index on Ancestry shows that Anna Elshire died 28 Jan 1945. You should be able to get a copy of her death certificate from the SD Dept of Health. If the informant knew, it will tell you when and where she was born, the names of her parents, and where she is buried.

Kathy http://tinyurl.com/yafdm25 has quite a lot of information on Hiram and Anna's family.

Happy Hunting!

Greetings from White Bear Lake,Mn.,my name is Brad. I do have an Orville Elshire listed in my family tree, though not sure if one is listed in your family tree. He was married in 1925 to Dora(born 1889) and were eventually separated. Together, they had three kids named Donald,Vivian and Donna Faye. O'Neill Nebraska was their listed residence. Sorry to say that this is limited info, but I am using info going back to 1979 with this part of the tree that hasn't been updated in years. I was wondering if the names look familiar by chance. I'm not even sure if these relatives are connected to Moses, but would like to find out. Thanks. Brad Gabrick

Thank you for your offer! I am at this time not sure how far one takes an adopted child? Lenoard Farr was the adopted son of my great Aunt and her husband. I am not really sure now if they ever actually adopted him.. I was in hopes to find an obit on him to see if it listed any of the children of my Great Aunt children... Would you pursue an adopted child in your research? I am still new to a lot of this, I figured if he was living with them then I should consider him family. My wife has and adopted child and we love her as our own. Again my question is when it genealogy realated how far or do you included that person if so how far back do you go? So many questions.. If in your opinion I should carry it past is death or prior to his death then I am game!, and would gladly appreciate your help. I have set up a gmail accout especilly for this becasue I did not want my actualy email exposed to a lot of junk.. So please feel free to contact me there. dickusaf@gmail.com Thank you for your response look forward to hearing back from you and getting your opinion!
Hi Richard,

I read over some of your posts. Did you get info on the Farr family? Leonard had a number of siblings. If you need help with trying to track down some of your Farr relatives in MN, post an email address on here and I will try to help you. I won't post living people on a board but I will email it to you. You could make up a hotmail address just for this so your regular email doesn't get spammed.

Hannah, in 1946 and 2 children with Russel E. Lee on in 1937 & one in 1939

Minnesota Marriage Collection
Name: Charlotte L Hannah
Spouse: Waino E Martin
Marriage Date: 20 Jun 1964
Filing Location (County): Aitkin, MN

Alvina May Cheney married Donald D.
I know very little about my ancestory in the sense that my Dad never really mentioned much about his family except for his sisters.

My grandfather Charles Martin Rustad was born in December of 1885 in Le Roy, Mower County, MN. He married an Eleanor Winifred Cheney on June 15, 1915 in Spring Valley, Fillmore County, MN. They had 5 children their names are Lillian, Edna, Hazel, Virginia and Charles Lemuel (My father).

Sometimes the name will appear as Carl for Charles.

Lillian married a Rex Smith, Edna married a Clyde Lofgren, Hazel married a Clarance (Bud) Weston, Virginia married a Guy Pitmon, and my father Charles married a Lorraine Castle.

Charles Martin Rustad I know lived down in Spring Valley Area until 1920 because a US Census shows his name with Eleanor his wife.

The 1930 US Census shows Charles Rustad with Eleanor and Lillian, Edna, Hazel, and Virginia plus an Ole as head of farm.

I just would like to find out what he did up in the Aitkin and maybe why they went up their.

To move from Mower and Fillmore County and go up to Aitkin County wasn't something that you are going to do and say oh well if it doesn't work out we will move back to southern MN.

Charles' father name is Lars Christian Olsen Rustad was born on July 28, 1855 in Nannestad, Akershus, Norway and his mother Bergit Hansdatter Rustad was born on September 30, 1858 in Jevnaker, Oppland, Norway.

He also had many sisters and 1 brothger. Their names were:

Bertha, Henry, Mary(Maria), Emma, Nettie(Netta), Mabel(Mable), Lena(Amanda or Amauda), Julia, and Della(Henrietta Della).

Thank you for your help.

Eric

In 1920, Ole is living in Fillmore County, MN, living as a boarder with a George Nelson family. when he registered for the World War 1 draft two years earlier, he was living in Spring Valley, MN, and Charley Rustad was living in nearby Ostrander, MN.

Charles is listed as "cousin" to Ole RUSTAD in 1930 Aitkin County, MN. Ole owned his own farm, was single, and it was the depression. The first thing that comes to my mind is that Ole needed help on the farm and his cousin (possibly out of work) came to live with him.

I don't find any articles in online sites pertaining to your Charles / Charley / Carl RUSTAD.

August (aka Gust) Martenson (aka Martinson, Martens) was born in Sweden in 1881 and died in Sioux Falls, SD in 1942. August was married to Carrie, who was born in Norway in 1886 and died in Sioux Falls, SD in 1941. August worked at the International Harvester Company in Sioux Falls.

August’s brother was Carl Eklund who was born in southern Sweden and immigrated in 1907 to Sioux Falls, SD, then to Minneapolis, MN, then settling in Aitkin County, MN. Carl changed his surname to Eklund when he immigrated. Carl’s Swedish name was also Martenson.

A family album has been passed down from Carl Eklund which contains a picture of August and Carrie Martenson’s grave marker in Sioux Falls. The album has many lovely old pictures, most of them done in portrait studios. Unfortunately, these pictures/portraits are not labeled with any information that would help with identification. We hope that someone in the Martenson/Eklund family will be able to assist in identifying these lovely old pictures.

Please e-mail us at leistiko@mlecmn.net or respond on this board if you can help. Thank you for any help you can provide.

Lu
Hello Previous Forsberg Postings,

I live in Malmo, MN and share your interest in genealogy and history. I found your postings on Rootsweb regarding your Forsberg genealogy but your e-mail addresses are no longer current.

I have a book published by Mrs. Donald Curtis titled “Malmo Centennial 1884 – 1984”. This book is a collection of family histories and includes “Reflections and Recollections of the Forsberg and the Johnson Families of Malmo Township, Aitkin County, Minnesota” written by Ruby Elizabeth (Johnson) Hanson in May, 1984. Ruby’s mother was Jenny Forsberg (daughter of John Peter and Anna Margareta). Ruby wrote one of the longer entries - eight pages and she does know how to “turn a phrase”. Do you have this article? Are your Forsberg relatives related to Jenny? If you don’t have this information then I would be happy to scan those pages and e-mail them to you.

If you are related and have not seen this article – you are in for a real nice surprise. This is really nice.
Hi Kerstin,

Thank you for the information you posted. Yes these are brothers August Martenson and Carl H. Eklund.

Are you related to the Martenson/Eklund families?

My husband and I live on the farm that Tillie Olson Eklund’s father homesteaded in Lakeside Township, Aitkin County, MN. Tillie’s mother and paternal grandfather are buried on the farm and I pursued the Olson/Eklund genealogy so we could place a marker for their graves. In the process of collecting this information, I accumulated substantial family history and would love to share with members of the Olson/Eklund family.

Thank you again for your posting. Let me know if you would like further information.

Lu
Fogde in Macville Township, 1910
I just happened to come across a boarder by the name of Matthew Frogde in the 1910 Census for Macville Township. This might have been my great grandfather Matts (Mathias) Fogde, born April 7, 1865 in Malax, Finland. Ca 1900 he lived in or near Calumet, MI, but soon after that he disappeared. A Matt Fogde living in Brookston, MN, died in 1914, i.e. four years after the 1910 Census. According to a note at the end of the Macville Census a large number of the boarders were working on the Soo Line Railroad construktion. Does anyone have any info on this person or any hints that might be of help?

Burdick- 1880-1900 - Farm Island

Hello- Thought I would post a request for information about
the George Bennett Burdick Family. They were listed in the 1895 census for Farm island. From what I know they moved to Farm Island Township between 1890 and 1895 from Michigan. The returned to Michigan by 1900.

George Burdick B: 1845,Pennsylvania 3rd Wife: Alice May Nichols B: 1868, Indiana

Children:
Milo Addison Burdick B:1892 - Berrian Co, Michigan
Elmer Leroy Burdick (Aka John Murphy, Manistee, MI) B:1893- Berrian Co. Michigan
Wilbur Addison Burdick B:1895- Aitkin Co. MN
Asa Enderds Burdick B: 1896 -Aitkin Co. MN
Daisy Bell Burdick B: 1898- Aitkin Co. MN ( My Great Grandmother) Her father's occupation was listed as lumberman) Her birth info was not in the original birth Register for Aitkin Co. but in a Red Supplimental Book as when SSNs were needed to get a job she had to go back and get a birth certificate. A tip to others from Aitkin County when I went in the county employees did not know of the book, luckily my great uncle who had done previous research mentioned a supplimental book. After a bit of digging they found the book.

Charles Mortimer Burdick (aka Charles Vincient) from one of George's previous marriages also moved to Farm Island.
Charles married Sarah Wagner 1892 while living there and had two sons Austin and Owen Burdick. Charles married again, and had some run in with the law, as well as the mexican army from what I've heard.

I have the information from the 1895 census. I guess I'm asking if anyone has noticed them in any other Aitkin Co. historical documents.
I actually live in Brainerd now. Strange that my parents ended up so close to Aitkin Co 80 years after all these Burdicks left MN.
so Anyone looking for more info about this family or have anymore information you can share please let me know.
