Joseph was the patriarch born by the records I have been given 10 Aug 1803 in Geneva Quebec Canada. He was married to a Mary Jane perhaps last name of July. They had 8 or more children: Alexander, Mathilda, John, Lucy E, Benjamin, Abbie Elizabeth, Rosannah and Oliver. Our understanding is that they moved through New York to Michigan via Indiana (birh recorded in Indiana). They initially were in the southeastern part of Michigan and then moved to the west side of the state. Mathilda, William J. (a grandson - son of John) and possibly others Frank? went to Wisconsin. Sometime after Mary died in Oakland county, Joseph went to Wisconsin and in living with Oliver for the 1890 census. My father used to go visit his cousins in Rhinelander Wisconsin. At least one eventually went on to Colorado and there are PeLongs in Colorado and Iowa now. Hope this helps now that I have pieced it together better than before. Judy
