hi all. Im really new at this, so please forgive me if I do not write this out correctly. my grandfather, Gerald Hobson West died in 1951 at War Memorial Hospital when my dad (Gary Earl West) was only four or five years old. Gerald had two brothers- Theodore and Alvin. folklore has it that Alvin may have went out west??? Gerald, my grandfather, was born in Sunfield Michigan. and was buried in Sault Ste Marie. his mother was Estelle Hoffman-however Hoffman was her stepfathers' name, so I dont know what her maiden name really was. I believe that Estelle was from the Pickford Area. Gerald's dad's name was Earl (I believe)
Gerald married Ruth Gordon in 1942 or 1943...they had my father Gary Earl in 1945 and my aunt Geraldine in 1946. prior to my dad and my aunt's birth, gerald and ruth adoped a baby girl from Canada named Carol. Carol went back to Canada when she became of age and I have no idea where she ended up.
if anyone knows anything about the West family from the Michigan, Canada area of even please contact me. I lost my dad in August of 04; I would really like to know something about his family and, sadly, my dad really did not have any more information about his dad's family than what I have posted here.
