CAPT. FRECHETTE, AGE 84, IS DEAD

Had Lived Here 78 Years, Funeral to be Tuesday.

One of Chippewa's pioneers residents, Captain William Frechette, 84, years of age, passed away at his home Saturday afternoon, January 16, 1926, after an illness of two weeks due to a stroke of paralysis.
Captain Frechette, who was born in Whitefish Lake, Ontario, May 4. 1842, came to the Sault when he was six years old. He came with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Michael Frechette. When but 16 years old he started his career on the Great Lakes which ended in his obtaining the rank of captain. Mr. Frechette made his first voyage on a vessel that was the first to lock throught old state lock.
After his retirement from Great Lakes shipping, Mr. Frechette moved to a farm on the county road where he and his family lived for 28 years, moved to the Sault seven years ago. Forty-two years ago he was married to Miss Minnie Trotechaud. He has been blind for the last seven years of his life.
The deceased is survived by his wife and one son, Glenn, of Detroit. The seven grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren, who survive are by a former marriage.
Funeral services will be held at St. Mary's Church of which he was a member Tuesday morning at 8:30. The body will be placed in the municipal receiving vault to await burial in Riverside cemetery later. At present the body is at the home of Joseph O'jibway, 724 Spruce street east.
