There is a story in my family that my grandfather and/or his brother unloaded bootleg liquor off boats from Canada in Detroit. Supposedly one of them was involved in a murder and had to join the Army to avoid going to prison. Does anyone know information or references about bootlegging between Canada and Detroit during the Prohibition? Are there any Detroit police/newspaper records available from this time?
