Thomas and Henrietta are buried in Clam Lake Township Cemetery. I created the findagrave listings for them. Interestingly enough the years of their deaths on their headstones are incorrect.

As for the obits, I have a copy of them now. :) I forgot this post was even here.
There is some more information on my personal website, but not much on ther Berry family. www.alannafant.tribalpages.com
My grandpa told me once that Henrietta was adopted, but I don't know why or what her birth name might have been.

Hope this helps. You can email me directly if you'd like.
Alanna

They have a listing for Henrietta Berry Fitzgerald in Clam Lake Cemetery in Wexford County. Also for Thomas both died in the 1930's.

Census records only show the "US state" or country name.

For political reasons some Irish immigrants designated either - Free Ireland or Northern Ireland on the 1920 census.

Hi, I can send you what I have gathered in looking up my own family tree:

On 6 January 1908, Laura Tossey (from Ludington, died in 1958 in Saginaw) married 23 year old Charles R. Blake (born in 1885, son of E. F. Blake and …nie M. Goss) in Cadillac, Michigan. There is no indication of what happened to the marriage, but probably divorce? When Laura remarried, however, she retained the name Blake after her maiden name. She and Charles Blake had one child: Lavina M. born on 11 October 1908/1909 (passed away 24 July 1982 in Saginaw) who remained with Laura when she remarried Charles Pearson a few years later. Lavina M. Blake was married John Scully (1904-1985) and is buried in Mt. Olivet.

re:

Looking for info. on a male with surname Blake. He is said to have had a junk yard in Cadillac,Mi. in the forties an early fifties. He died sometime in the early to mid. fifties,in Cadillac. The only info. I have is that he was possibly married to a woman named Laura Tossey, born 2 june 1889 in Ludington, Mi.died in Saginaw,Mi.13 july 1958.They would have been married prior to 1911. Thank You for any info. on this.
p.s. Would anyone know how I might find info.on junk yards in Cadillac,Mi.prior to 1965?

I am looking for any family info surrounding my boyfriend's grandfather, Harold Lloyd Price. He had 3 daughters named Denise Price, Dawn Price and Michelle Kay Price. Michelle had my boyfriend named Jona Daniel French. We know he married a woman named Charlotte (do not know her maiden name) and she passed away in 2003. Harold has lived in Cadillac, MI for 27+ years. Any info on family would be appreciated.

Also, Jona's father's name is Daniel Charles French. He was born in Wexford county, but we do not know the date or city. He married Michelle Kay Price and then devorced, remarrying a woman named Joy Freeman (not her maiden name, she had a previous marriage) and she had 2 daughters previously named Amy Freeman and Katie Freeman. Jona was his only child and Daniel still lives in Boon, MI. Any info would be great, we are trying to figure out his family tree, but we live in WA state, so calling back to MI is difficult. Thanks!!

Thank you for the information. I have posted a query on the Kootenai County board to see what they know. Since posting my initial query on this board I found (according to the Grand Rapids Press) that in 1905 Hans Ostensen filed for voluntary bankruptcy for his haberdashery. No doubt he moved to Idaho after that.

Thank you,
Larry Isberg
isberg48@yahoo.com

Hans Ostensen served as City Treasurer about 1900. He owned a clothing store in the Granite Block. Was married and had 2 children (Harold and Floyd) by 1903.

Sometime after 1910 his wife, Elvira Johnson Ostensen, remarried to Christian Olsen, a widower, in Washington State.

I am trying to find out what happened to Hans. One snippet of information I found says that a Hans Ostensen died when the building where his haberdashery was collapsed on him. Unfortunately the information did not say where that was.

Any information would be appreciated.

Thank you,
Larry Isberg
isberg48@yahoo.com

This may be your great grandparents marriage - I found it on Michigan marriages in pilot.familysearch.org

Hugh Butler, 21y, b. Wexford Co, MI, farmer, s/o Frank Butler & Edith Covey, married on 13 May 1916 in Cadillac, Wexford, Michigan to Nina Amy, 19y b. Wexford Co, MI, daughter of John C.(last name not showing) and Catherine Dahmer. Married by Pres. Paster A. W. Johnstone - Witnesses: Clarence Clark & Wayne Butler

Frank E. Butler & Edith E. Covey's 1889 Wexford county marriage is also on the above website and names their parents.

There is a Wexford County marriage in 1887 for a John C. Almy & Katie Dolman that could be the parents of Nina - some census searches could provide the needed information on this.

Use pilot.familysearch.org for Michigan marriages from 1868-1925 - it's fantastic....you will see the image of the original document.
Hello!

I am trying to put together some family history. I know that my family lived in Wexford County for quite some time. My grandmother, Gladys M. Butler was born Dec. 5 in 1928 and resided on 6 1/2 mile rd in Buckley. She is buried in the Cornell Cemetery. Her mother's name was Nina Butler and her father was Hugh D. Butler. Her brother, Cecil, is still alive and lives up there somewhere.

I have the family tree pretty well figured out, but I'm missing information about the family. I would like to know more about them. If anyone knows anything, could you please help me out? I would greatly appreciate it! I don't have any grandparents to ask anymore...and my parents and uncles and aunts don't really know anything more than I do.

Thanks in advance!

Help finding a possible death

Hi,
Trying to find out if a Lottie Antrup died in Wexford County sometime between 1880 and 1882. She was born about 1862 in Ohio, and in the 1880 Census lived in Hanover. I'm trying to find this out because she was married to Henry Antrup who was born about 1853 in Indiana. My GG Grandfather Henry D Antrup was born in 1853 in Indiana, but in 1882 married a different woman (Jennie C Fuller). As Antrup isn't a very common name (let alone the same first name and birth place/year), I'm wondering if Lottie died shortly after the census, and Henry got remarried...is anyone able to help me out with this problem? Thanks,

Trent

I have just recently begun to research Charles and Margaret Hinsley of Sherman in reference to their son Neal Cecil (adopted?). Their is a listing on Ancestry.com family tree, which states that Neal C. LaBatt (b. Mar 1901), was adopted (31 Mar. 1903) by Charley and Margaret Hinsley after the death of Neal's mother. I have tried to contact the author of this information (JHinsley710), as Neal C. LaBatt is from my family line. His mother was Amanda V. McDaniel and his father was Oliver J. LaBatt of Wexford. Would sure appreciate any confirmation I can get. Thanking you in advance.
I am researching the family of Joseph Gibbs of Ottawa Co. MI. His daughter Margaret Gibbs b. 1866 in Ottawa Co. married Charles Hinsley. Their children were Clarissa born 1890, Lois born 1894, Mary born 1896 and Neil born 1899. All of the children were born in Sherman and in 1920 Census Margaret and Charles Hinsley are in Sherman with a Grandson Theodore Nelson. I belive he was the son of Lois. Does anyone have any information about this family. Thanks Barb

Margaret Hinsley is in my Gibbs line. When I found that Neal was adopted I did not do more on him. What I was trying to find was the date of Margaret and charles' death and were they are buried. I'm sorry I did not answer sooner but I never received notice of your post.

It sounds like you have more info than I do. Bertha was pregnant when she married Edwin Kangas( Born November 1, 1908 and married August 28, 1928). The baby was born October 1928 and lived only a short time. Bertha was also married to George White Jr. on October 1931. Their son Robert Richard White was adopted by Elmer Bliss( born in Grand Rapids, MI). Robert Richard White was born April 11, 1934. She then married Russell Ferguson after 1936. They had 3 children is one of them you? I lost track after that. I know that when Bertha died her body was sent to the University of Michigan Hospital for research and was never returned.

Bill Luckey had told me of a relative interested in family history in either Grayling or Gaylord is this you also? He is now deceased, but we shared a lot of history.

You were right in your assumption. My husband and I have been together for 31 years and married for 30 years.

I don't like putting personal info on message boards for all to see. If you want more we will have to think of another way. Tim Luckey e-mails me sometimes.
