Hi everyone,
I was looking at an image of my great grandfather's birthrecord from 1902 in Detroit. It is the old book record. It shows that his name was originally recorded as "Leo Grandel". Then in another handwriting it adds "Frank" to the first name and fixes the last name to spell "DeGrendel". Finally it says, "aff filed 2-21-41". Attached are copies of both pages of the book birth record. He is the last one on the bottom of the page. Also I attached a certified copy of the birth certificate that was issued on August 18, 1941.
My question is, what does "aff filed" mean?
