Consider posting your query in the Van Buren County, MI forum, as that's the county where South Haven is located. Also, have a look for the Matthews/Wheeler transcribed marriage date here:

http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~mivanbur/MarriageIndex.htm

Bob Gaudio

Antoinette Kenyon was one of my great-great aunts. As it happens, I am vacationing in South Haven now. Can you tell me where you have the information that the Villa Antoinette was located at 80 Elkenburg street. I had been told previously it was located at 454 Maple Street. But there is no house at this address, at least no longer. A house like the one shown in your picture still exists at 80 Elkenburg does still exist (see Google Streetview). It would be nice to be able to confirm the address. (I'll take some pictures.)

Tom Gordon

I am looking for a headstone for Henry Whelpley. He was buried in Gobles, Michigan (Gobleville) 20 Feb. 1907 (according to his death certificate). I found his wife (Mary O. Whelpley) in the Robinson Cemetery that is located in Bloomingdale, Michigan (on-line). In addition, 2 of their young children are also buried in Robinson Cemetery (one as an infant, and one as a 10 year old). There is no Gobles (Gobleville) cemetery. I am specifically looking for Henry's parents, an so on. Any information would be much appreciated.

Cushman
Born 7.4.1833 PA
Died 11.23.1901 @ Breedsville, Van Buren Co., MI

She was buried in the Breedsville Cemetery on 11.25.1901. I called the Breedsville Cemetery to find out if she had a file but, the Sexton informed me that records for people buried in the Breedsville Cemetery during this time frame were burned in a fire.

I do not live in Michigan and require help to find a published obituary for her.

It looks like Marie Emma is the Emma listed here in the 1910 census. In addition, it looks like Minnie Sykes was a witness to Bertha's marriage
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/ML52-TJ2

Marie Emma Sykes Powers died in 1912 from tuberculosis. You can search for Michigan deaths from 1897 to 1920 at
http://seekingmichigan.org/ Click on advanced search, then put in powers in one box and Van Buren in the other
Looking for information or a website for information on our family ancestry. We have been working on our family tree. My grandmother was Bertha Sykes (born in the US, South Haven, Van Buren, Michigan). We are only sure of her fathers name Henry Sykes (Henry could be first or middle name). We are not sure of the spelling. My great grandfather and his wife immigrated to the United States in about 1892 from Germany, from the information we have so far. We are not sure of the region he came from. His wife's name may have been Tina or Tena Sykes (spelling?). We would appreciate any information.

I am in need of a great deal of assistance in filling in spaces for this couple. Starting with John, He was born abt 1907 in Illinois and then moved to VanBuren County. In census records he has lived in Geneva and South Haven. The 1940 census lists him living in South Haven. I am in need of his date of birth, marriage date to Dorothy and his death date. I cannot find anything after 1940. As far as Dorothy goes, she was born in 1912 in Michigan. She passed away in February of 1997 in Michigan. I'm fairly certain they both stayed in South Haven but the trail has gone cold. Any suggestions or information would be greatly appreciated!

Jodi VanEngen Walder

You might try contacting the archive library at Westen Michigan University they have access to the old Kalamazoo Gazette's via on line. and also the "Hartford Daypring" newspaper is available through the web site of the Hartford. That would have been pretty big news in the area. You might also try the Kalamazoo Library. Good luck

Hi Rick, I am also researching this family and am wondering if we can share and compare our notes. The great-great grandfather's brother was named Robert Wood and he had five other siblings that immigrated to America from Belfast Ireland. He was married to Margaret Hughes and they had a few children. His brother George was my great-great-great grandfather.
