Henry passed away peacefully Friday morning, November 6, 2009 at his home. He was born March 5, 1935 in Forrest City, AR, the son of William and Leasse Kelly. Henry was a veteran of the U.S. Army. After returning to Kalamazoo, he was employed at Pre-Cast Schoobeton followed by 34.5 years at General Motors in both Kalamazoo and Grand Rapids, retiring in 2004. He was a member of the UAW Local 488 & 730, was active in his church and sang in the Mall City Jubilees quartet. Henry especially enjoyed the outdoors and had a great love for his pets. On April 15, 1996 in Paw Paw, Henry was united in marriage to Rebecca Withers, who survives. He is also survived by eight children Henry Jr., Sandra, Curtis, Greg, and Joel Kelly, all of Kalamazoo; Tia Carter-Kelly, Andre and David Kelly, all of Grand Rapids; three step-children; 19 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a host of nieces; nephews; special cousins, and his work family at UAW Locals 488 & 730. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Rebecca and Mattie and a brother, Dove. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the communities of Gobles, Kendall, Kalamazoo and Grand Rapids for their love, prayers and support, and to Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan for their compassion and care, especially Michelle, Connie and Julie. Family will receive friends 6-8 PM Friday (11/13) and from 10-11 AM Saturday (11/14) at the Adams Funeral Home, Paw Paw, where services will be held at 11 AM Saturday, Elder Henry Grayson officiating. Cremation will follow the service and interment will take place in Pine Grove Cemetery at a later date.
