Formerly of Gobles
Passed away Friday, September 25, 2009 in Heath Township, Allegan County. Daniel was born January 1, 1950 in Kona, Hawaii and had lived in the Gobles area for many years before moving to Hudsonville six years ago. He was employed at Wallinwood Springs Golf Course, Hamilton, was a veteran of the Vietnam War, and was an active member of the New Life Baptist Fellowship. In his free time, you could find Daniel singing at church, out on the golf course, singing karaoke, playing his guitar, riding his motorcycle, helping his friends, or just spending time with his family. Gruetzmacher and her significant other, John Tucker; Keone (Whitney) Bareng, and Kimo Bareng; two grandchildren, Maile Tucker and Aiden Christopher; his significant other, Marcia Metzner; her five daughters, Karyn VandeBunte, Tonya VandeBunte, Katie (Jeremy) DeRoos, Ali Folkringa, Mallory Folkringa; Marcia's grandchildren, Dax VandeBunte, Adam VandeBunte, Cadence VandeBunte, Peyton Cook, Joel DeRoos, Cora DeRoos; his sisters and brother, Lydie Aldrege, Doretta Beck, Eydie Fascia, Jesse Santos, Gilbert Santos; his foreign exchange children, Chang Lee, Eunjeong Chang; and many friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ahlan Santos; father, Daniel Bareng; step-father, Gilbert; and a son, Daniel, Jr. The family will meet friends on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the

Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM, Thursday, at Merson Church with Pastor Power Payton officiating. The family suggest memorial to the VFW Post of your choice or Merson Church.
