Passed away Wednesday, May 27, 2009 at home. Lyle was born September 17, 1923 in Hamilton Twp., the son of Arthur and Daisy (Eastman) Marks. He was a WWII veteran in the Army Air Corps serving in the 342nd Service Squadron and a charter and life member of the VFW Celery City Post #6248 in Decatur. He was a former owner and manager of Marks Brothers & Co. Elevator in Decatur for several years. He married Beverly J. McWilliams September 21, 1945 in Decatur and she survives. Also surviving are three sons Bruce (Nancy) Marks of Lawton, Brian (Kate) Marks of Paw Paw and Lee (Vickie) Marks of Schoolcraft; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister Nellie Marks of Decatur and two brothers Eugene (JoAnn) Marks of Kalamazoo and Donald (Fay) Marks of Lawton. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Owen, Richard and Carlyle Marks. Friends may call after 11 AM Saturday in the Newell Funeral Home Decatur, where funeral services will be held at 1 PM Saturday with Bruce Marks and James Abshagen officiating. Military rites conducted by VFW Celery City Post #6248 and American Legion Post #309 of Decatur will follow the services at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Decatur Athletic Boosters or the Decatur Band Boosters.
