De Boer, Benjamin (Ben)

Went to be with the Lord June 28, 2009. Ben was born September 2, 1919 in Kalamazoo, one of nine children to Joseph and Josephine (Boers) De Boer. He was a WWII Veteran having served with the U.S. Navy in Hawaii and Australia. He retired from Allied Paper Mills, he loved gardening, fishing, woodworking and watching sports. Ben was a kind hearted and gentle man who loved helping anyone who needed it. He will be greatly missed by his loving wife of thirty-five years, Jean, sons Larry J., (Pat), CA, Thomas L., Mattawan, daughters Susan (Jerry) Houchins, WV, and Peggy (Richard) Colby, Kalamazoo, brother Gerald M. (Angeline) of Kalamazoo, and sister Mary Brinks of FL., six step-children, many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Private services have taken place.
