Janiece Ann Jamison passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 9, 2009 at The Virginian after valiantly fighting cancer for three years. She was born on August 4, 1940, the daughter of Florence P. (Jamison) Cook and Hugh R. Jamison in the Village of Lawton. Janiece gained employment with Capital Airlines after graduating from Humboldt Institute Airline Secretarial School in Minneapolis, MN. Capital Airlines was later acquired by United Airlines from which she retired after 45 years of service. Her positions included secretary, supervisor of in-flight service at both JFK Airport in New York and National Airport in Washington, DC, sales and service representative, most recently, ticket sales representative. While with United Airlines she lived in New York and Detroit, MI before moving to the Washington, DC area in 1978. Janiece played clarinet in the Lawton Community High School band and sat first chair. She was a member of the 4-H Club and she loved to travel. Janiece served numerous years in multiple positions on the Board of Directors for her Home Owners Association and was an avid gardener, often giving advice to the community. Janiece was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Joan Jamison and step-father, Robert Cook. Surviving are her sister, Judy (Larry) Morrison of Schoolcraft; brother, John C. Jamison of Dowagiac; three nieces; two nephews; four great-nieces and three great-nephews. A memorial service will be held Friday June, 19, 2009 2:30 PM at the Adams Funeral Home, Paw Paw with Rev. Ron Packer officiating. A luncheon will follow. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society . Her cremains will be laid to rest in Oak Grove Cemetery, Lawton.
