MAYFIELD, (Mrs.) Bertha Ella
Of Grand Junction went to be with the Lord Monday, May 4, 2009, at South Haven Community Hospital. Bertha was born January 13, 1933 in Lexington, Mississippi, the daughter of Scott and Julia (Safford) Alexander and married her high school sweetheart, Bennie Mayfield, in 1951. Her favorite pastimes included gardening, fishing, doing word search books, and listening to music - especially Tom Jones, and being surrounded by family. Bertha leaves to cherish her memories her husband, Bennie; 11 sons, Bennie II of Grand Junction, Donald of Grand Rapids, Randy (Elise) of Kalamazoo, Davy of Detroit, Wayne (Teresa) of Kalamazoo, Bryant of Kalamazoo, Ronnie (Cynthia) of Ypsilanti, Scott of Grand Junction, Authur of Atlanta, GA, Michael of Gurnee, IL, Julius of Alma; one daughter Deborah (Anthony Brown) of Flint; one stepdaughter, Brenda Woody of Ohio; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins, and dear and caring friends. She was preceded in death by a son, Kevin Mayfield; stepson, Anthony Darling; a sister, Mazy Reece; two nephews, Glen Morgan and Qasim Ali; and two great-grandchildren, Jonathon and Lorenzo Mayfield. Graveside services will be held 1:00 PM Friday, May 8, 2009 at the Grand Junction Cemetery, with Pastor Duane Jones officiating. Arrangements by the
