Passed away Friday, February 20, 2009 at the Maples at Waterford Crossing, Goshen, IN. She was born July 10, 1927 in Lawton, MI, to Lawrence H. and Dorothy (Lewis) Spencer. On August 16, 1947 in Lawton, she married Verlyn L. "Doc" Harris. He passed away May 4, 2006. Surviving are her children, Debra L. (Steve) Wolfe, of Indianapolis, IN, Larry S. (Bobbi) Harris of South Bend, IN and Steven M. (Sandra) Harris of Goshen, IN; four grandchildren, Mike Rohn, Nathaniel Harris, Chelsea Hildebrandt and Briana Wolfe; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Lawrence "Lewis" (Lois) Spencer of Lawton, MI and a sister, Margaret Brown of Lawton, MI. She was preceded in death by her husband; an infant sister, Mildred; a grandson, Lawrence Spencer Harris, II; granddaughter, Erica Harris McCoy and a great-granddaughter, Mikayla McCoy. She was a homemaker. She also owned and operated her own music store, "The Music Mart" on Lincoln Ave., Goshen, IN and had taught piano for many years. She had also worked at the former Salem Bank in Goshen for a period of time. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Goshen. She graduated from Lawton High School and attended Kalamazoo College; Federated Women's Club of Goshen; Sigma Eta Fine Arts Sorority; had played the piano at 1st Presbyterian Church for many years. She was a well-known accompanist and producer of musical programs. A public memorial and burial service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to United Cancer Services of Elkhart County or donor's choice. Arrangements by Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, 1911 South Main Street, Goshen, IN 46526.
