MARKS, Barbara Mary Wallace
Was born November 19, 1923, in Harrisburg, PA to Ralph and Cornelia Wallace. She passed away November 3, 2007, peacefully at home in South Haven, MI surrounded by her children, Wenda Marks Shaltry, Dean and Donna (Shader) Marks, and Patti Lael Marks Christmas; granddaughter, Catherine Elyse Christmas; and great-grandchildren, Seth Damian and Zana Vivienne Christmas. She was the beloved wife of Gordon Lowell Marks, who preceded her in death. As an educator, in the Vicksburg Middle School and Gull Lake Elementary, she was an extremely gifted and dedicated advocate for her students. Barbara's faith in God and her passionate belief that all children and adults could be successful, enthusiastic readers led her to develop and implement a reading program that helped countless individuals obtain that goal. Loved greatly by her children and adored by her grandchildren, Lindsey Marks, Catherine, Charles, Stephen, David, and Peter Christmas, her passing has left a void. Barbara's enthusiasm for investigating the world around us, with a knack of making every day special has filled our hearts and lives with invaluable memories. She was also preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, John and William Wallace; a sister, Donna Dunbar; and a granddaughter, Susanna Lael Christmas.
