Passed away suddenly on Friday, October 3, 2008 at her home. Marilyn was born on March 20, 1931 in Lawrence, the daughter of Clarence and Ida (Walter) Ruple. Marilyn was a 1948 graduate of Hartford High School. Soon after graduating, she married William Henry Schilling on August 7, 1948. In 1966 she was hired as a school bus driver for the Hartford School System and remained there for over 20 years. She was a very loving mother and grandmother, who enjoyed crocheting numerous items for her family and for the annual Christmas Bazar. She was a member of the Michigan Association of Retired School Personnel. Marilyn is survived by her children, Bruce (Linda) Schilling of Poteet, Texas, Bonnie (Bill) Sharpsteen, Neal (Rae) Schilling and Nancy (Buzz) Whelan all of Hartford. She is also survived by grandchildren, Jennifer (Matt) Toth of Lebanon, Illinois, Barbara (Brandon) Miller of Tallahassee, Florida, Shannon Ward of Poteet, Texas, Billie Sue Jones of Bloomingdale, Bobbi Sharpsteen of Allegan, Brandi Saily of Hartford, Brian (Christina) Sharpsteen of Gladwin, Ami (Isreal) Vasquez of Pullman, Kane Schilling, Leslee Whelan and MaRhea Whelan all of Hartford; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; a sister, Maxine Burg; and a brother, Stanton Ruple. Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, William on April 20, 1997; her parents; a brother, Max Ruple; and two sisters, Marjorie Ruple and Marvil (Ruple) Utter. The family will welcome friends from 6 to 8 PM Wednesday, October 8, 2008 at the Calvin Funeral Home, Hartford . The service to honor her memory will be held at 2 PM on Thursday, October 9 at the funeral home. Pastor Timothy Nyhuis of the Hartford Federated Church will officiate. She will be laid to rest in Maple Hill Cemetery, Hartford. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Marilyn's name may be made to the .
