John passed away Thursday morning, August 7, 2008 at Tendercare of Kalamazoo. John was born December 15, 1917 Chicago, IL, the son of the late Louis and Frances (Swiech) Klis. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the European Theater and received four bronze battle stars. He was a member of the V.F.W. Celery City Post # 6248 in Decatur, MI. On September 25, 1994, in Paw Paw, John was united in marriage to Mabel M. (Broadhurst) Daggitt who preceded him in death on September 8, 2005. He was also preceded in death by a son, Louis Klis. Surviving are a sister, Mary Drewno of Kalamazoo; brother, Frank Klis of Niles, IL; two nephews, John (Teenie) Rogus of Fountain, MI and Frank (Gilda) Rogus of Paw Paw; two nieces, Janice (Robert) Lewis of Paw Paw and Joyce (Gerald) O'Keefe of LaPorte, IN; step-daughter, Diane (Oren) Miller of Kinross, MI; several nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends Sunday, 2-4 PM at the Adams Funeral Home, Paw Paw where funeral services will be held Monday, (8/11), at 11 AM. Interment will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery Paw Paw with military honors. Memorial contributions may be made to the V.A. Hospital Canteen Fund through the funeral home.
